You mean the $3 million "I'm sorry I screwed another woman" ring wasn't enough?

The cheapest car who's performance comes close to the Z06 with an automatic is the Mercedes S65. It's $180,000. You might want to think about going back to work
Their is no need for me to go back to work to have anything i so desire. some just have it like that.

People here generally aren't either when one actually just submits a legitimate question.

But you chose to begin the flaming in your first post with "i will sell out ! and find some exocit ricer.. I,m tired of GM,s S--t. han feeding us like they have the only game in town. All the money we spend with them, they should be kissing our feet insted of ignoring us."

That's not exactly the best way to keep things civil.

Unfortunatally not all forum members who responded have read your profile, I belive a bit of a different reaction to your situation would have been received. If the Z06 is that important to you, I'm sure someone, somewhere, somehow an automatic could be installed for you.
Thanks for serving our great country.

QFT.

But an automatic Z06 just isn't going to happen from the factory. No matter how much a select few beg and whine and threaten. Not nearly enough market to justify the testing costs.

You must have seen on this very forum, the number of owners that have expressed that you don't have a 'vette' unless it has a 6 speed.

The other reason for not installing the automatic behind a 505 HP engine is simply that perhaps they don't have a tranny strong enough to handle the load FOR A REASONALBE COST that is.

Would you be willing to pay $3000 to $4000.00 to get an automatic in the Z06? That might be what it will take. I ran a drag race car with 570 HP and an automatic tranny. That transmission cost me $3800.00 and well worth it.
I think we might want to look at the new XLR V. Isn't that over 500 H.P. with a 7 speed and an estimated cost of $100,000.00? That's about $25,000.00 over the XLR. Is it all engine for the extra cost or is the transmission also part of that upcharge?

No removable roof or ragtop options either!

Both not really appropriate for a high performance, very low weight car.

I'm for manual transmissions in sports cars.

I watched Dave Hill present the Z06 at this years Carlisle.

He said that GM felt a 'Z06' type of person probably would prefer a manual transmission.
He also said that GM didn't have an automatic transmission that could handle the power of the Z06 and still fit in the Corvette.

No one is being nasty. You wanted to know why the automatic isn't offered and the forum members have told you the reasons.

You know my opinion already, but if chevy wanted to sell more vettes, I do believe that they would offer the auto on the z06. I think the z06 is targeted more to the enthusiast track driver than as a daily driver, therefore the necessity of having a manual. A true paddle shift a la ferrari would be a nice option, but I don't think chevy even has one in development. I'm sure with enough money though, someone can convert to auto for you.

BTW...I have read your profile.

My impression is that the Corvette auto transmission isn't strong enough for the ZO6.
