Probably the easiest way to get rid of those sysbols is:
Press the button with the Voice Recognition symbol on it (upper right side) Then say 'POI OFF'.
Your voice command system should hear you say this and turn off all POI's.
There is a more manual way to do this but I'm not near my car right now and can't remember the exact steps to do it manually. I use the voice command myself all the time.
If my memory serves me at all, I think if you touch your screen while a map is displayed, a sub-menu will appear. On that sub-menu, you will see some options, one of which is to do something with the POI's.
