My vert is lined up fairly well but I am still getting small chips even with the splash guards on the car. Some of that has to be from driving during the winter weather.

This problem was reviewed and discussed almost a year ago.
I forgot about it til this new thread.
Here's my grommet fix:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/phot...cat/500/page/1

My body shop guy touched up the chips, when I had other painting to do.

I forgot that dang rubber grommet was even down there, til now!

No problem here, perfect alignment and not a single chip.

Nice, thanks. Can you tell me what kind of grommet you used?

I used a grommet that was to be inserted in a 1" firewall hole in my old Miata. I think a cable went through the center hole of the grommet, but that was too long ago to remember the details. I just trimmed it to fit and do it's thing.
There must be better and cleaner solutions by now.

...and some much worse than others. The most I've seen don't align at the leading edge of either door to the trailing edge of the front fenders near the top in front of the mirrors - rear edge of fender normally sits out about 1/4" from door edge. To me, there is no reason for the sloppy alignment. Even Hyundais have good panel fit for crissakes!

I as well as ALL my Corvette friends have it.
We put a peice of clear tape alone that edge. Change it every other wash, so far so good.

What kind or name of clear tape do you use?

I have and it works great. However I did it after getting a small chip which I touched up first. I used a piece of Cleartastic that I had, similiar to 3M.
