Default Anyone Getting This Paint Problem?

I have barely 2000 miles on my MY coupe. I discovered this when washing the car today. Most likely road debris causing it. Both sides same. Can this be prevented? Really disappointing.

Wow, that is some bad panel fit. Clear bra works well. How many miles?

Hard to tell what part of the car that is... But it looks like normal rock chips. Is it an area that you can protect with splash guards?

I have it, just like in your picture along with 90% of C6 owners. It's caused by the poor alignment of the rear door edge against the rear quarter. I spoke to W. Cooksley (not sure of spelling) who runs the C6 plant when I was at Carlisle. He said that it is what it is and it's within spec and they can’t seem to get all 4 edges to perfectly align. Dave Hill’s Z06 with only a few hundred miles on it at Carlisle had the same damage and I pointed that out to Cooksley. It's caused by tire debris shooting back and hitting this exposed edge. This is the main reason I developed my splash guards and I have noticed it's stopped. If you clean that edge with a good paint cleaner it won’t look so bad for a while.

The bottom part is the rocker panel, upper left section is the rear corner of the driver's side door, and of course the upper right is part of the rear fender, just in front of the rear wheel.

It is where the door meets the rear quarter panel.

I have installed mud guards from (In)Complete Dreams already, and these chips happened after I installed the guards.

Pipedreams - any pics of your mudguards? Or a description?

It also looks like the paint ran in three different spots.

I have yet to see a C6 where these panels lined up properly.

It's not that the rear qtr panel sticks out, it's that due to poor alignment, the bottom corner of the door does not stick out far enough. Do a search, I think some mbrs have added a rubber grommet to improve the door alignment.

I did the search for you under C6 FAQ. Here it is:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...post1548710868

Also check archives. The above FAQ doesn't discuss the grommet fix.

Yeah, I checked the quarter panel and rocker, they seem flush. It is the bottom corner of the door that sinks in. I will look into the rubber thingy.

I'm one of the lucky ones..... both doors and rear quarters line up perfectly on mine.

Had a thought, is this worth complaining about to the dealer? Is there a tech bulletin fix for this?

Has anyone applied a small piece of the 3M Clear Bra material to this area to avoid the paint chips?
