its great to have the option for turning them off. I saw 3 vette owners yesterday on Las Olas (street), in Fort Lauderdale that wanted to know how to turn them off......DRL class 101 in session

I prefer to turn off my DRLs because it seems that those DRLs tend to burn out often.
It has been suggested here at the forum that the actual bulb filament used by the DRL was never intended to be left on continuously, but was originally designed as a "flasher" (turn signals, etc). So, these filments tend to get hot and burn out quicker than normal when left on continuously (DRL use).
After reading about this the first time, I went out later that day and within ten minuntes saw a C6 coming at me with one DRL blown out! I decided then and there that I'd just keep my DRLs off and put off having to change the bulbs.
So, either turn the switch to "off" to turn off the DRLs, or turn on your "parking lamps" which use a different filament (the less bright filament) in that same bulb.
On bright sunny days when I'm out on non-shaded roadways, I just keep all lights off. On overcast days or any time there is a lot of shade involved, I just turn on the parking lamps or headlights.

They don't burn out often. The bulbs are designed to have a 3 year - 36,000 mile life so they don't have to be replaced under warranty. The C6 DRL's have a bad socket on early 2005 VIN's and need to have the socket replaced. And yes, it is covered by the warranty. The front bumper has to come off to replace the wire harness/socket.
I turn mine off right after the car starts up (it is now habbit to flip the switch as soon as it fires up). My reason is a little different than listed above, however. I start the car up in the garage and if I do not turn them off the headlights come on until I back out of the garage. That is pretty hard on the HID bulbs for the headlights. It's one thing to burn out a DRL bulb... Just wait and see how much it is when you burn out the HID headlight bulbs. I think a lot of you will be shocked to find out how much it costs just for the bulb alone.

I've had the sockets replaced and had the bulbs replaced 3 times in 1 year of ownership and 10k miles .My tech told me he's always replacing them on Tahoe's etc.

The new harness worked for me and others who have had it done. You might have another problem. The bulbs don't "just burn out".
