Posts getting more belligerent?
I always worry when I hear anything that might encourage Forum Managers to "tighten up" the postings. TOO MUCH "tightening up," and disallowing certain things, will take the naturalness, interest and spark out of the postings.
In particular, I would hope that members should ALWAYS be allowed to post BAD experiences with ALL VENDORS and NAME them .. to protect us all. Such warnings can save brother-members thousands of dollars! (Wouldn't we warn a BLOOD-brother of a bad experience?)
Owning only one vette, I don't have an opportunity to deal with DOZENS of vendors so I appreciate, and value, ALL heads-up warnings.
I really enjoy Stan's postings and pay particular attention to them. This time, however, and in this matter, I just don't quite see the concern he has.

The CFOT section, and come to think of it, the drag racing section, have been the scene of more than a few verbal scuffles
To keep this on topic - you can disagree about what your neighbor puts on his/her C6 without being nasty about it.
If you're a kind and considerate person, I'm sure you'll agree that there are a lot of selfish & inconsiderate people in this world. Not much can be done to change this. Afterall, most who fit this description are to obsessed with themselves to notice this defect in them. Just be glad you're not that way.
I also have seen what your talking about. I also may have been guilty of a few sarcastic and harsh responses. It has always been a follow up reply to narrow mined know it all.
I also agree with what another felow CF member expressed, it is just like driving in traffic, some will let you over and others gloat when they can prevent it.
I find it hard to hold back on some of the critical red neck posts about the choices made by fellow vette owners.
The one that really gets me is that some vettes are performance cars and some are not and that some vette choices mean that they are cooler and wiser because of them.
This stuff is high school like for the weak and insecure. Some vette owners purchase their cars in cash you think we would know what we want but yet we have little big daddy trying to judge and coach us all. It is weird, it takes all kinds.Oh well, the forum will just have to cope, the good thing is the red necks are in minority.
I do think it is good to respond with candid follow up post to the red neck when a statement is posted that is full of

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Lots of polarization in this place... Yes indeed, lots of polarization.
You have to have a thick skin if you want to hang out here or you won't last long in a place like this.

I did not know about the triangle/bad post icon that accompanies every post. That might be a wonderful tool to use and will alert the mods to someone who has gone over the line. I will try using that in the future instead of posting a reply. Whatever, this is still the best Corvette forum available and I wouldn't give it up. There's just too many really good people here and too much very useful information, tips, mods, and photos. Keep up the good work, guys.

Name calling and implications of stupidity (or other derogatory remarks or implications) are simply not appropriate under any circustances.
I'm sure the mods would intervene everytime if they knew, but like a couple of them have said in this thread, they are spread very thin. It's our job to let them know when it happens. This is just my opinion, but a name-caller should get ONE warning, then if it happens again, he or she should be permanently banned from the forum.

I hope all understand the 'this color is the fastest' and the Z51 threads are not a put down session...to me I am just proud to own a Vette and the Baskin Robbins applies to cars as well as ice cream...
And yes you need to have a thick skin on occasion...the dough boy posts use to bother me...but I know what I like and to hell with the rest of you
OOpppsss no forum decorumTake care all

Thanks for trying to reel in some of the less hospitable aspects of a forum. I'm moderator or owner on 7 Yahoo groups and know how tough it can be to manage malcontents. If people would only read their posts before hitting send, they might think twice about being rude. But, like any open mike opportunity, some people will have delusion of grandeur.
I've only become a Corvette owner again since November (when I joined this very helpful community), and have been attacked for some silly reasons. Most of the people I have met here are great and let's hope the negative posters move along as time progresses.
to the Forum and Moderators

Just kidding. All good points. I was thinking about this the other day when the guy with the 22 inch wheels was getting picked on and was reacting angrily to the replies. Seems you should have think skin, but then again a little thoughtfulness and tack can also applied. I kinda view this forum like a family, where you can be honest about your opinions, but you still need to be thoughtful of other people's feelings, just like you do with your family members. Besides being informative, your posts are often just plain fun to read. Don't let the jerks get you down, it's folks like you that keep the civility level of this forum as high as it is.
There's a bunch of people posting here whom I'd like to meet in person some day, a few whom I'd like to punch in the snoot, and hundreds of honest intelligent posters who share their knowlege and love of the car.
Keep up the good work!

The only problem is that the ignore function won't block the post if it shows up as a quote in a later post by someone else.
