Took delivery my first corvette. A 2006 Black coupe, with the 3LT package .The vette will join my 2003 Toyota 4runner (4.7 v8) and a 2005 Sienna minivan (got 2 kids 3 year old and 4 month old).
I am new to the group. My passions are racing and off-roading (my 4runner has a huge list of mods).
Very excited about the new Vette.
2 quick questions.
I get flashed alot at night. Is it easy to adjust the lights or do I need to see the dealer?
Also, when shifting, I tend to miss 2nd and go right into 4th (Manual tranny). Is this something that will adjust itself?

You can get a devise for about $20 that lets you bypass the 2nd to 4th deal. I got mine from Corvette Garage in Lubbock TX, but lots of people sell them. It will still tell you that you have to go from 1-4, but you don't have to.
Don't worry about the headlights, they are probably fine.
The MN6 has a 1 to 4 feature built into it. When you are between a certain speen range and RPM range it will only allow you to go from first to fourth. You can bypass it you want to do the mod for it.

Thanks! Great Forum!!
Are you familiar with CAGS? That's Computer Assisted Gear Selection, or, more appropriately, "Our car wouldn't get good noise or mileage ratings if we let you use 2nd and 3rd gear, so we force the shifter from 1st to 4th under certain conditions".
Basically, at less than 20% throttle, and between 15-20mph, if you pull the shifter back, a solenoid will force it to the middle, dropping you into 4th gear, not 2nd.
You can get a CAGS eliminator (google it) which plugs into the harness on the transmission under the car, or you will soon learn to drive around it if you're aware of it. I just shift either before 15mph if I'm cruising slowly, or after 20mph if I want the option of romping on it in 2nd gear.
Other than CAGS, I find the shift action to be nice and crisp and haven't missed a gear yet. May just take some getting used to.

I am familiar with it now!! Thanks. I guess I should have read the FAQ. I am super excited about the car! Funny thing just happened, someone in the neighborhood called the cops. I just saw two here and I have never seen them around before. I wasn't even racing it. (ok wife was a little - she loves the STICK (now there are two sticks that are gonna compete for attention)...
Anyway - thanks to all that replied. FYI - MSRP was $50144 got it for $43300. I think like $1k above invoice.

The dealer said I need to park by putting the manual tranny in R and applying the break. He said if I don't do that, I can run down the battery. Sounds bizzare. I owned many manual tranny cars and never had to do this. Is this true? Thanks!!
My advice to you is to read the owners manual, pure and simple. A lot of people make statements on the Forum that are simply not true. Makes me wonder if they're wannabe's, because they don't seem to have the same make and model I have. Read the manual and watch the DVD. You'll learn a lot about the car and respect it all the more. The toughest part about the DVD is watching it in one sitting, because it makes you want to get up and drive it!
