I took my son (12 y.o.). This was the best part of the decision -- it will be a memory that will last a lifetime. Be sure to bring a camera -- and don't let him know that you will get your car's build sheet right in the middle of the tour. He will be so surprised.
How will you get your wife and son back to your home?
Copied and pasted from the plant website, tour info page...
"...Age Restrictions
Children must be seven years or older. School groups must be fourth grade or above."
There are other restrictions for the PLANT tour... no cameras, no open toed shoes... but not the same for the NCM. Take lots of pictures at the NCM. You should check the plant site, tour page, for the other info. The NCM version of the tour is "better" and more intimate than the general public tour, so it will be a treat.
Took my well behaved 10 and 7 year old. My wife kept them in line for the 2 hours in the plant. they were tired of all the walking. Make sure you have little snacks for them to keep them buisy.
I wouldn't think there would be a problem. When I picked mine up at the NCM a member of Digital Corvettes met me at the museum. When it came time for the plant tour our guide asked my wife and I if we wanted him to join us on the plant tour. Of course we said yes and we all three took the private tour.
