Nor in mine. I thought I was just not hearing the change, but it actually is no different at speed (know what I'm talking about? ), and I -do- turn the auto vol on when sitting in the driveway at no road/wind noise levels, as per manual instructions (2006 manual, 3-80). Should have figured something was wrong when the button only toggles between ON and OFF. The manual says it should cycle through AUTO VOLUME MIN, AUTO VOLUME MED, AUTO VOLUME MAX, and AUTO VOLUME OFF.
On p 3-81, manual says "If your vehicle has the Bose(r) audio system...(blah-blah-blah)", and refers to an "AudioPilot(r)" system, which just has AVOL ON and AVOL OFF, which is exactly what I see on my non-NAV radio display. But 3 paragraphs later, it also says "This button is not available on the radio with the Six-Disc CD."
Guess what? My non-NAV radio has the built-in (non-external) 6-disc player. My build sheet says I have "RDS AM/FM STEREO W/6-DISC IN DASH CD W/MP3 PLAYBACK, BOSE PREMIUM 7 SPEAKER SYSTEM XM SATELLITE RADIO."
So I am confused. This conflicting info is making me think the manual was written in an Asian office. I'm just looking for the "Do not safe to operate vehicle audio system in bathtub."
What are we missing, or do we just go to the dealer and hope they don't say, "No, that's how it's supposed to work"?
Has anyone had this fixed???
I went through the manual (2005) again as well. It does say on the non nav Bose equipped radio it's just on-off. Then it also says that it works best at low volume, which is what I noticed only if I had the volume set very low and toggled between the on and off. But like Onstar, it's useless in my opinion.
I have a 3LT, no Nav, so it's supposed to be the Bose system with AudioPilot. Auto Vol. toggles between AVOL ON and AVOL OFF, as expected. It's definitely doing something in my car - it's just a little inconsistent it seems. It does seem to get loud sometimes while I'm just idling, but overall, I leave it on because it does help compensate for things like speed and putting a window down. Great idea, but just seems like poor execution.
Works for me (I have it set for max). As I have a vert, I find it very useful.
AVC worked fine in previous Vettes . . . but doesn't work worth a damn in the C6. But how do you, "set for max."? On my system the only option is either on or off . . . although it doesn't seem to make much differencee which I choose!
I even took it to the dealer to have it checked. His response, which I guess is verbatim GMese was "the system works very subtly." What a joke!

Read page 3-81 again. Below is what it says about this button not available. It's talking about the mute button. While I agree there are errors in the manual, this is not one of them.
MUTE: Press this button to silence the system. Press
this button again to turn the sound on.
This button is not available on the Radio with
Six-Disc CD.
I have 2nd Nav/Audio unit installed with MP3 update on second and Volume Control hasn't worked with any of it. Have tried turning the feature off at high speed and haven't noticed any difference. Neither have I noticed any difference in windshield wiper speed versus speed over the road. Neither feature works.
It is worth making an issue over. My BMW has this feature and I love it. The Vette claims to have this feature and it does not work. GM should hold Bose accountable for a flawed product. Bose should spring for the repairs or replacements. If the owners manual claims the car does something, then it should. The price of the car is based on the options we paid for.
Im With You! If We Pay for it, it should work! If they go in and brake something, they will fix that Too!!! I use my stereo,so I want mine to work!!!
My prior car, Bonneville SSEI had the feature but it was geared to the speed. My C6 works only when I go down a bumpy road etc. I do wish it worked like my Bonneville.
