I just went to go and start my 06 A6 for the first time in about a week...
and I'm stuck!
The car opened and let me in, i sat down, however I went to start the car and got a click sound, but nothing. I tried to open my door, and it would not open. I pulled the emergency release handle, and the door poped open.
The outside lights of the car are still on, however the car will not go into accessory mode or regular driving mode. The windows are not indexing, and i hear a slight ticking sound on the outside of the car.
The inside still has some lights on, so I am not sure if the battery is dead or what?
Someone please help quick before all lights go out!
All of the lights just went out, and there is still a ticking, however I poped the hood and noticed it is coming from the fuse box. It is quite loud...Is this a bad fuse, or does it need a jump?
I had this once, the car will do some strange things when it's low on battery. Jump it or put it on a charger tonight. Have the battery tested and make sure it's holding a charge. Good luck with it
Jump it. There is enough juice for relays to trip, thus the ticking sounds, but not enough to turn the starter. Most likely a bad battery unless you left a light on or something.
I called AAA, and they had someone come to jump it. The car is in my garage, so they need to use a battery pack. The guy that came to jump the car told me that the engine is too big for the power of his jumper...it can't turn over.
I called Chevy road side assistance, and they said that they do not like to jump start 05-06 corvettes because it can fry the electrical systems.
They are going to send someone out to be sure, that it cannot be jump started.
Sounds like a classic case of DBS. Your best bet is probably to pick up a battery charger and let your battery cook for a few hours (probably overnight, depending on the size charger you get). I'm betting that if you do that, all will be fine.

Have someone help you push it out of the garage & jump it.Mine would not start with a charge or batterypack. It turned over as soon as I hooked my other car up to it?
Jump it and drive it more often. Put it on the charger if you are not going to drive it. Also make sure you dont have things like radars on in the car while it sits.

I would run down to the Auto Parts store and invest in a good battery charger. Let it charge for a few hours and your car should start right up. You will have the charger for any possible future problems. After you start the car, take it for a long drive to properly charge the battery. Good luck.
Same thing happened to me. We jumped the car without a problem, but the battery wouldn't hold a charge. Battery replaced under warranty, no issues since. If the battery went dead in only a week, it's bad, make them replace it.

why does it seem like GM delivers so many cars with defective batteries?
Get one of the new "smart" battery chargers at Sams (Vector for $49.95) or Walmart (Black and Decker brand but also Vector).
The bigger chargers can do diagnostics on your battery to see if you have a bad cell or even an alternator problem.
Depending on the model you choose, the engine start mode has 75 or 100 amps on tap to start your car. Even with a bad battery, you can limp to the dealership on the alternator alone.
Doesn't sound like "DBS", more like a defective battery.
Have it replaced.
Why is it everyone assumes DBS? Gotta watch these Forum mechanics. Moreover, jumping a car absolutely dan fry your wiring. May only happen 1 in a hundred times but, if you're that one, you will be sorry. I agree with the guys who recommended charging it and then having the battery tested. Good luck.
I've had 4 cases of DBS on my 2005...........the dealer who found the problem..ran a circuit test and found an open circuit in the headlamp module........changed that and changed the battery..........DBS free for 28 days now.......
