I`ve had them both and prefer the coupe, seems like we always had to put the top up and run the air when going anywhere of any distance. If I want a lot of wind in my hair that`s what the Harley is for.

Wow, Deja Vu. I am a vert type and thought exactly the same thing about the C6 coupe. What's your favorite color? Interior? What's your wife's maiden name?

: .............. For the record my coupe when it arrives is VR... black interior... and WTH is my wifes maiden name?
BTW.... thought this has been a good thread.. very little flaming! I was really interested why people choose the C6 version they did. I think for most vert people it's a passion... the open air thing! It's great the General has taken care of both types of people with the vette! How many sports cars offer a true vert and targa top version?

Yeah, but I have to wear a helmet on my bike, not required in the Vert. Yet. Remember when the airbag committees were talking about outlawing convertibles?

Vert is the only way to go....nothing like the wind and the sounds! Each generation of Corvette becomes more and more refined....the C6 coupe is almost as quiet and smooth as a Lexus.

I agree with you and don't like the roof line of the vert at all. It's coupe all the way for me. With the removeable top it's almost similar to a vert anyway and in my region verts are not very useful most of the time. Then there's the fact that I never liked boiling in the hot sun in stop and go traffic. I've owned verts before and like them best an hours or so before sundown in the summer. Oh, the joy. But I can take out the roof panel too and I like the coupe look much more. To me, IMO, it's almost like the vert and coupe are two different cars they look that different to me. just my opinions of course. Last vert vette that I really liked was the 67. I'll buy one of those if they build that body style again. I don't know if it's a fact but it seems to me that more verts end up being garage queens than coupes.

I own a C6 a coupe but have no idea what you are talking about! "FAST looking"?????????? Hate to say it friend, but If thats the best reason that you could come up with for buying a coupe, the vert might have been the better choice after all?

"Skeeter" Lothringer (www.texascardoctor.com), a Vette owner and certifiable repair genius, got to look over my DSOM vert last week, and he told me if I ever wanted to go over 130mph, be sure the top was down, as it (top) wasn't stable above 130. Also reminded me to get under the front end to check out radiator blockage from road trash. If you only look down from above, you can't see the whole thing. Said those plastic grocery bags are terrible offenders of airflow. One last piece of advice he shared: if you notice the coolant temp keeps sneaking up, make sure the front air dam has not come loose (by road debris collision or driveway damage).

THANKS, SKEETER!!!

Simpler reason here: my head hit the underside of the coupe top in my preferred seating position. Plus: I get a real trunk (it even sounds good when shutting it); less heat gets in through the little rear window (IMO); more useable room in back if the top comes off (coupe)/goes down (vert); more color variety with 4 top colors than a same color coupe top; doesn't catch fingerprints; doesn't scratch if you set keys or something else on top temporarily; the cat finds it more comfy; one more button-gizmo to play with (power version); bank likes the extra cost added to the loan; can take top off/down while sitting in traffic without getting out. Oh, yeah, it looks faster, too.

Nothing like a convertable
Was down in Naples last week - Sunny and in the 80s - could not even imagine driving anything but a convertable - made my whole week.

The coupe captures that Stingray look.

The design does look , and it is the primary reason I bought the C6. The Vert is also , but obviously I went for the coupe!!
