Default Help, rear view mirror problem

I was twisting the mirror to plug in the short power cord for a passport and the mirror came off the nut on the windshield. Now THIS nut can't get the mirror back on the windshield.
This is a full power mirror. Any ideas? Grunting, groaning and swearing doesn't appear to help.
Thanks, Dick Schultz

I haven't looked at my C6's, but every rear view mirror I have ever looked at slides down over the plug on the windshield and is held there with an Allen wrench set screw. Look for the set screw on the mirror's "shoe," loosen it a few turns, and then slide the mirror "shoe" down the windshield from above the glued-on metal "plug" and then tighten the set screw with an Allen wrench. Hope this works.

Just set it on at about a 25 degree angle and turn it. It took longer to type this than it takes to do.

Been there had that problem!! Check the hex on the windshield nut .Look for any of the edges of the hex to be broken off. even just a little bit. This happened to mine after 800 miles . The dealer had to put a new windshield on th car. What a pain in tha *** that was.

Good luck

You jest? The mirror wouldn't hold tight so they needed to replace the entire windshield. Now there's a great design.. thank you GM for another POS design! That's simply crazy... Hummmm lets see the tire is flat so we'll just replace the rear end... makes perfect sense to me!
