Newbie
After lurking for a few days I thought I'd register and introduce myself. I'm 22 years old and currently live in Jacksonville, FL. I'm also in the process of getting on with the Florida Highway Patrol. I do not currently own a Corvette but have always said I would own one before I turned 35. I now have a 99 Trans Am (first car). Anyways, when the C6 first was introduced I knew I had to have one. I plan on saving up about $10-15K within the next year and a half, and could sell my car for another $10K. I've been thinking about it, and when/if I get on with the FHP I believe I'd be able to get one.
I know most, if not all, of you guys on here are a lot older (therefore wiser) than me, so I wondered if you guys thought I was getting in over my head with that plan, or if should just wait and save up some more $$. I could always save up the 10-15K to use for a down payment on a used Z06, but I'd rather have the C6.
Sorry for the long thread and thanks in advance for the replies!!

If you are willing to live with it then go for it, you have no kids to feed

I waited till 56 and regret now getting one sooner.Go for the Gusto - buy now & pay later. Not much differences in the 05 - 06. Look at a New 05. SHould be able to get 5-8K off MSRP.
Just think of all the leg you'll find. You'll have to carry a baseball bat just to keep em away

Since you've been lurking you most already know that these are some of the best people around both on the hobby level, and personal level as well.
Don't feel wierd about not owning one yet... I've been a member here for over 2 years and still don't have one.
I agree 100% on what's been said....
1) If you CAN afford it, and still have a life and put some $$ aside for upkeep ( Tires alone can kill a patcheck if you drive it hard ), as well as the future... go fo it. Life is short and you never know what life will throw at ya.
2) I'd say save a bit more $$ and get it for as little as possible. Goes back to #1. Waiting an extra year aint bad. I've been waiting for 6.
3) Treat the car with the respect it commands, and both you and the car will live a happy life. More importantly YOU. I've plenty of LEO's that have a heavy foot and fast tastes...
Enjoy, and when you DO find that right car... PICS ARE IMPARATIVE!
They don't let you get off here with just a description.
