So you now have a separate tip made from thin steel, inside the regular tip? Got an pictures? In my head, this doesn't look anything like a double wall tip and wouldn't look very good.
Acually .... they look fine.. Yes you can see the insert but it is way in near the end of the taper. Lots of cars have tips that look that way. Pay attention to the tips on cars you see driving around, you'll see what I mean. I'll try to get some pics up.
Wouldn't it be possible (and a heckuva lot cheaper) to just buy FlowMaster mufflers and have your OEM tips welded on and replace the OEM muffler with the FlowMaster muffler? Who needs to pay an extra grand to replace perfectly good pipes and tips? Won't the same results be had for a lot less money and hassle? And drone?

Do you have any pics of what you did yet? I am sold on the Flows and will be ordering them within a couple of days. I am curious though and would like to at least see what you did if I should encounter any drone.
Those following my flowmaster threads... I was going to take them off today but decided to do a little research on resonator tips... The stock four tips are full of little holes on the inside wall. These ARE indeed resonator tips. I got two four inch long reducers, drilled a lot of little holes in the small diameter, inserted them small end first into the flowmaster tips.. So now it is a double wall type tip.. The annoying drone is COMPLETLY gone. WOW! I could not believe it.. It still has the same sound ....maybe just a little quieter but by very much. I am a tinkerer and love to do things like this. It made my day when I took the car out for a drive. Incredible that the people that make set ups parts cannot come up with simple solutions.
...Thanks for all of the help and advise... I promise no more flowmaster threads.
Increasing back pressure, even a little, is the classic way of reducing drone and noise - good job.
