Default XM Gone?

I can't find it. I change bands and all I get is FM 1-2 and AM. It's like XM doesn't exist. I checked the owners manual and searched the forums and can't find a solution. I'm supposed to have another month left on the trial. Help!

Even if you're not getting the XM signal, XM should still show up on the radio display when you switch from one band to another. Are you at least getting the XM band display? When did you get the vette?

As I posted the other day, my free trial period started the day the dealer took my deposit, not the day the car was delivered (2 week difference so I could pick it up with R8C NCM delivery). That's not something that was explained. I guess if I had had dealer delivery, and there had been some sort of delay, the XM clock would still have been ticking. That's something that should be changed

A quick trip to the dealer may be needed. Good luck.

This has happened to me too. As previous poster said, call XM. They probably need to send a new signal down to your car. I think you can also go online, put in your radio id number and send it yourself.

Thanks for the suggestions! I boought the car at the end of January. I even got a card from XM recently that said my trial expires on May 1st.

The XM band doesn't show up at all. It's like the radio isn't equipped to receive it. Thanks again for the suggestions I'll see what I can figure out. I hope I don't need to go to the dealer.

It looks like I can't resend a code. I have to be able to access channel 0 to get my radio ID#. Since XM doesn't exist on my radio I think it's a radio problem.

Looks like you will have to.
This sounds like a radio problem, not an XM problem.

I did not renew. Wish I did not have XM band remain on the radio. I have to push the band twice to get to AM from FM. Very annoying.

Yes definately a radio problem. You have to be able to access channel 0 to be activated. Either the xm module is broken or a cable came loose. Symptom points to radio not finding xm module.

This is a radio problem and is not something that can be fixed by XM support. If you don't see it showing up on the head unit, the XM module is no longer showing up on the data bus. This would be similar to unplugging the ribbon cable on your hard drive and then the letter "D:" drive no longer shows up in the list. Something has happened that has effectively disconnected the XM module from the system. Try disconnecting the battery for at least a half hour and reconnecting. If that doesn't work, check out the connections on the XM module itself. I have an aftermarket one so mine isn't in the stock location but I believe it is tucked away behind one of the seats. Can't remember whether it is the driver or passenger seat, but you should be able to find it. If you can, maybe make sure all the connections are secure and check the fuse box also for any blown fuses.

My .02

Mike

Hey Gorion...Just out of curiousity, do you have the NAV radio or the standard radio?

This is a dealer fix.

I had to replace my radio due to a blemish from the factory. After it was replaced, I got in the car to reset all my radio presets and had the same problem-No XM.

I went right back into the service center and they called the mechanic over who said he forgot to enter some codes. He didn't tell me what had to be done other than that, then he just drove it into the service bay, did something then drove it back out a minute later.

It worked fine after that.

I also had the XM button not appear. Drove to the dealer and he agreed it was missing. We power cycled the radio and the button returned. That was 10 months ago and has not happened again.

I agree with the above posts. Even if you don't have service, XM should come on and you would get their "promotional" channel that tells you how great they are and that you're an idiot if you don't subscribe.
