Default Closing Trunk

Hey,

Just picked up my Vette this weekend. Had a quick question about closing the trunk on a coupe. What's the best way to do it? At what point are you suppose to let the trunk go?

Thanks.

Use the built-in handle on the right side. Pull the trunk down briskly and release it from about 18" (this is not critical). A little practice and you'll get it every time...so the auto pull-down will pull it fully closed. If it doesn't latch, you can always just press down slightly over the latch and the pull-down will take over.

The amount of force necessary is substantially less if the windows are down or top off/down because there is no air pressure build-up in the car.

The handle doesn't work well for me.
I usually pull it down 1/4 of the way then make the slamming motion.

The handle has only worked well once.

3 fingers on top, worked.

I dont believe you are supposed to hit it very hard on the latch. I gently push it down until it stops on the latch and then I slow push it down until the automatic solenoid pulls it down. I wish they had a C6 emblem on the hatch in order to avoid finger printing the paint. They did that with the C-5s and it worked fine.

Inside handle. Pull firmly down. Practice makes perfect. Let go before you slam your hand in the hatch.

Not rocket science but a learned practice.

More speed needed when all closed up as opposed to when the roof is off or the windows are down.

Also more difficult if you have stuff in the back.

I just set it down gently and then push slightly until the auto close mechanism catches. Seems like it wouldn't be a good thing to slam it down onto the auto-closer...

Default Hatch closure

Went to a local boat dealer bought 6" of black boat decking [black], on the back side [tan] put down a quarter, draw a circle, figure out how wide you want it to be, draw another circle, now 2 straight lines off the dia. cut out, remove sticky back put on rear glass to prevent finger prints. Can send pic if you want....save the wave

Mine works correctly about 19 times out of 20. You've just got to get used to it.

And you don't need to 'slam' it. Just enough force to get it to close and engage the auto pull-down. A few tries and you'll get the hang of it.
