Default 6 CD Changer

Has anyone found a good price for the 6 cd changer designed to work with the NAV radio? I thought I saw it somewhere for around $300, but I forget where.

But loading a changer with 6 MP3 discs means never having to change-out discs ever again, too.

It's been reported that the changer will not play mp3's...

Are you referring the headunit update? I assume so. I still have not heard anyone who actually has the external changer trying an mp3 disc. It has been reported that the unit will not play mp3's but the Fred Beans website says..."Note GM Assistance states this does play MP3's. Currently they also state in fits 2005 models with VIN# breaking point 115217 and up and all 2006 models."

Please...if anyone has the changer...give it a try and let us know for sure.

Are you referring to the in-dash changer or the trunk mounted one?

I have committed to do it in a previuos post. Unfortunatly the unit I received was defective (I think it got a rough ride in the shipping) Bob from Fetchner is sending me a new one today (excellent service from Fetchner BTW) so I will post on that next week.

On the same vein anyone has a prefered software to handle MP3s without converting them into an other format.

Back to my original question - where can I find a changer for a reasonable price? I really think I saw one somewhere being sold for $299.99. Anyone else seen that or $400 about what I can expect? How much to install it?

All of the '05 and '06 in dash units play mp3's. The debate concerns the external cd changers...

I have tried music match, roxio and nero. Nero 6 seems to work the best...full title displays...albums in folders...no problems. I just select cdrom and under the iso tab be sure to select mode 1 and the ascII charcter set...works great for me.

I have an 05 vert with NAV and I put 10 hours a music on one CD. I have a total of 4 cd in the center console. About 40 hours of music. I can't figur out why anyone would need a six CD changer. But then again I have a power top.

Well, I have about 360 hours of music on my mp3 player presently...while that's more than one can listen to I would prefer not to have to bother changing cd's and still have access to a large part of my music. If the neucleus adapter gets the bugs worked out I'll likely go that route instead.

If we'd be talking about the Bose systems in the 2005s & the subsequent "fix", possibly.
OTOH with my 2006's Bose 6-disc system there's no problem a'tall with MP3s.

Off topic slightly, but, many people like the XM system because of the variety they recieve.
I'm not one of those people, myself.
XM plays songs within a catagory they like/choose so for me XM doesn't pass muster.

My tastes go well beyond the usual Billboard Top 10 (or top 25 for that matter) material.
Since I've an expansive -- 3,500+ CDs -- collection of blues, jazz & classic rock?
Burning MP3 discs with anywhere from 200 to 250 songs per CD of what I like listening to is the answer.

And with 6 of these MP3 discs loaded I'm serious when I say there's really no need to ever change out the discs.
Just do the arithmetic, up to 1,500 songs.
Played on "random" means never hearing the same song twice, not while driving from one point to another anyway.

If the Bose system in your car doesn't play MP3s I'd ask Chevrolet to replace the system with one that does, this instant.
Let Chevrolet figure out why [it] doesn't work.
But you paid for a stereo that'll play MPs & by Jove that's what you should get/have.
