Default Ordering question?????

I'm going to order a new 2006. Is it important to order the 3LT package and the power roof and nav and all that extra stuff? I could sure save a lot of money ordering a base unit. Whats some thought from all you vett guys and gals???

Just depends on whether or not you think you'd like the extra gadgets.

If you order the 2LT with a coupe, here's what's added:
Twilight sentinel/automatic headlamps
Air bags, dual side impact
Luggage shade & parcel net
Seat, 6-way power passenger
Sport seats

If you order the 3LT with a coupe, you get the 2LT options shown above, plus these:
HomeLink
HUD
Memory package
Mirror, ISRV autodimming w/compass
Power telescoping steering column
Seats, heated
Stereo, Bose premium audio/CD 6-disc changer
XM Satellite radio

If you're ordering a vert, as indicated, ordering the 3LT instead of the base would get you these options:
HomeLink
HUD
Memory Package
Mirror, autodimming & compass
Power telescoping steering column
Seats, heated
Stereo, Bose premium audio/CD 6-disc changer
XM Satellite radio

Based on the fact that you asked about a power roof, I'm assuming you want a vert. No brainer for me, you want the power top. You will not want to 'f' with the top every time the weather is nice, so if you don't get it you might as well order a coupe.

If you are going to order a 2006, you are too late. Some cool additions for 2007 though. You could probably find a nice deal on a 2006 on a lot somewhere if you are ready to buy...good luck!

I don't think that's correct. Ken Fichtner says orders approved this week will be produced the week of 5/15/06-5/21/06.

At this point I'd go for a 2007.

Get the 3 LT if you can afford it. Don't skimp, it is all or nothing unfortunately.

I got for the HUD and XM / Bose, but now am very happy with the memory, home link and was in an accident recently in a rental car, (travel for work) so the side impact air bags are also a benefit.

Get Z51 or F55 (Depending on your age apparently) as well for resale value and extra handling capabilities.

Its a vette, get the optional floor mats...

Sorry, I should have said you might find someone with an allocation. But at this point if I was you and I could wait, I would.

Having said that, I'm not and I can't.

Peace, out.

I agree, it has been my experience that if you skip getting all the options you will regret it later. To add an option later (like a HUD or NAV) is really expensive or impossible. I ordered all possible options including R8C and am glad I did.

A "stripper" is certainly better than no 'vette, but I recommend getting it as well-equipped as possible. In the long run, you'll be happier with it and you'll come out better when it's time to sell/trade for a new 'vette!

I went 2LT becuase for me at least, the 3LT offered bells and whistles that would rarely get use given the cost of the package. To me, the car was the show and all of the ancillary items would initially get the ooohhhs and awes, but little else. Of course, I have a coupe so it is easy to say that.

Good luck.

I don't care a whole lot whether I have this or that. I just want to drive it
