Default Mp3 Update...

so the dealer upgraded my radio - so it will play mp3's.. Do any of you notice that its really sluggish switching from track to track and especially browsing the folders, I just put each album in its own folder one level deep... i did fill up the cd.. 680MB of music..

It's a little bit slower compared to playing a regular CD but it's well worth it to be able to have over 180 songs on one disc!

I think that is why it was originally disabled. Very poor performance compared to what you can buy after market. I'm glad they gave it back to us.

Yeah, mine's slow, too. It's still cool to have, though.

Glad this was posted because I thought maybe mine was the only slow one (mp3, that is). But as a bonus for the upgrade I think everything on the sound system sounds better: FM, XM, CD.

Why dont the MP3 files blend together one into the other in the C6 up-grade?
The same discs blend one song into another on my computer.

I think it depends on how the disc is burned.

Most burning programs have an option to allow gaps at end of songs. Make sure you don't have it selected.

When you select random play will it only random play the songs on that folder or will it random play all titles on the disk?

If you have folders in you MP3 disk (like one for each of several album/Cds) it will only randomize within that folder.

I keep a couple of types of MP3 CDs in my vette ... one with specific CDs - several to a MP3 CD - so if I want to listen to that album/CD all the way through I can ...

The other kind I call my XM CDs ... I usually have a collection of 130+ songs of some type, rock, metal, jazz, etc - and put that on random play ... usually good for 11+ hours of that format ... I find I am using THOSE CD s all the time these days.
