Active Handling DIC
My DIC displayed active handling and anti-lock brake error messages in succession about three days ago. I was parallel parking at the time, so there were no high speed maneuvers involved and my car has never been tracked. Onstar could not get at the error codes remotely. Turning off the car and restarting it fixed the problem, but I've since noticed my active handling coming on in situtations it ordinarily wouldn't -- like pulling out of a gas station where there's a slight incline to the street.
My car had the fairly common problem of the wiring harness in the steering column being too short, that often causes "Service Active Handling". Do a search for my thread if you think that could be your problem.
There is a TSB for the problem, its somewhere on the tech forum, the code the car kicks out is c710 and I believe tsb is 0602-35-002. I went to the dealer and they came out and hooked up tech 2 and I hed 18 codes! I will be dropping it off tuesday and hopefully all will be well. The problem has something to do with steering column and wires pulling. Hopefully you have a realiable service dept and they will hook you up and get it fixed. I feel your pain, bro
Got the SAH message today...............C6 A6 w/ 5,000 miles. First problem I have experienced with THIS car.
I thought I could "escape" ANY problems, seeing how i had had none so far. All my other Corvettes have ahd something happen, so why not this one....................
I now anticipate what problems I will encounter with the new 2007 C6 Z06 coming this fall..........................
Jay13-
Mine is the A6, but the transmission doesn't matter, it's the steering column. If you have the telescoping column, then you are vulnerable to the problem. See my thread for details.
I had the same issue on my MN6. Kept getting the "service active handling" in the DIC. Finally took it in, and it was fixed in about an hour. $0.00 :0)
As much negative as I've talked about Hendrick in Cary, the service folks have been kick a$$... Very prompt, never tried to joyride, and always fixed my problems. Very cool people. I should also add, they've always had the answer to the issue... Nothing worse than having to tell the dealer what to fix cause they don't keep up on the bullitins... I HATE that.
