My car was at the dealer for almost five weeks, now the battery has been dead 3 times since. If the dealer let the battery run down completely, could that account for this behavior?

These batteries are not very fond of deep discharges. If the dealer accidentally ran it down, it could very well not hold a full charge again. I would recommend that you replace the battery.Paul
