For everyday driving the kick in the *** you feel every time you shift is annoying.

Since my everyday driving to track ratio is, shall we say, very heavily skewed to the everyday side, I'll stay with the A6, thanks.

How many people would like to see such a transmission in a C6/C7 and how much would you be willing to pay for it?

Please note this transmission is not an automatic with a manual shift valve body and torque converter.
I have some experience in costs associated with road racing cars and I would estimate that gearbox would cost in the $20K range.

Lamborghini's version called E-Gear, is a $10k option.

Can't be all that great an adder since on a 6 series BMW it is a 0 cost option. You can have a regular manual shift, the sequential gearbox or an auto for the same price. Granted these cars are in the 70k range but I doubt if BMW would throw in for free a much more costly to produce transmission.

That, IMHO, is the primary reason you don't see this type of transmission in street cars.
- test drove a M3 with SMG and never could get a smooth upshift in "normal" traffic. When hammered, it was a different story

I don't know that we need a sequential shifter in a non-Z06, but reprogramming the chip for crisper shifts in the A6 would be nice.

Agreed if I had to get an Auto...I test drove the A3 Turbo which has the DSG in it. When it's engaged you hardly notice it shifting. OTOH, I hated not have the control of the clutch, and you can see where my purchasing dollars ultimately ended up!

Reading thru the posts on this forum Auto vs. Manual, I think the auto camp is probably right, for most drivers on a track the Auto is probably faster, but I bought the manual because it's more *FUN*!

Id also heavily prefer the DSG over a standard SMG. Long as it can handle 650-700 ft-lbs, Id be happy...Those hollow driveshafts cant be that strong
