Default Replacing Windshield

On the way back from Bloomington Gold on Monday a rock or ? put a decent bullseye in my windshield near the heads up display viewing area. The glass company attempted the injection repair but it resulted in making about a 3" crack and now the windshield requires replacement. A correct replacement has been ordered through a local dealer and should be here by Wednesday. Has anyone had any experiences with this procedure and are there any things I should be aware of? I'm not sure if the C6 is different than the C5 in terms of installation and am just concerned that the installer may have not done one yet and I don't want to be the test mule with mouldings scratched, etc. I have indicated my concern to the glass company, but not sure how much they are really listening; to them it's just another job.

Just curious, what does a replacement windshield cost? I've heard that they are $$$ because of the special glass treatment for the HUD area. Every time I find myself behind a gravel truck on the freeway, I try to get around them as quickly as I can

I don't believe there is any special glass treatment. I have been in plenty of cars that have a reflection in their windshield from the dash.

I had to have my windshield replaced 3 months ago, with HUD and Onstar . I decided to use OEM part and total was 2000.00 including the labor(132.00 an hour ). Insurance took care of it. Windshield place can get right part ordered by using the VIN number.

To get it back to original looking form you gotta use the HUD windshield. You might be able to use the non-HUD windshield but the reflection woun't be as clear.

I don't see why you wouldn't go with HUD windshield since insurance will take care of it.
