New '06A6 vert. While driving on the freeway I feel as if my heated seat is on. I chkd the switch and it wasnt on; however, I can feel quite a bit of heat coming from the drivers side of the center console by my hip area. The passenger side is much less pronouncedl. Can you guys do me a favor and next time you drive it for a while on the freeway, feel both sides of the center console next to your hip/thigh area and tell me if the drivers side is much warmer/hottish compared to the passenger side?
The consoles in every C6 and C5 are known to generate alot of heat. Nothing new. The console is an excellent place to keep cookies, toast, ect. nice and warm on those long trips to nowhere.

Thanks
Yep, very hot. On a 600 mile trip it gets painfully hot. Elite Engineering's ceramic coated tunnel plate helps a lot. Until you get one, just turn the center dash A/C vent down so it blows directly on the console. That'll keep the heat tolerable.

I disagree. Mine does not get noticeably hot at all. Trip from SF to LA, not hot. MAYBE... something is wrong with cars that do get hot? At least on the C6?

Haven't noticed it myself and I'm big (6'1" @ 240) so my hip is always resting against the console and I live in sunny So. Florida where it gets very hot. I've touched the console and it does seem to get warm but so far haven't felt it against my leg or been bothered by it.
My 05 MN6 got hotter than my 05 A4. My 05 A4 would only get luke-warm, and I never noticed any difference between the driver's side and the passenger's side. I did drive it on 85-mile trips frequently.

Ditto, Mine is a 06 vert. have taken 2 road trips of distance and have not felt any real additional heat. If I open the console lid, it certainly it quite warm, but that heat has never trasfered to the seat or my body. Maybe cars in s. fla. don't have the problem
Thanks for raising the point about heat off the tunnel . . .I thought it was just me! I did the same thing you did - checked to see if the seat heater was inadvertantly turned on . . .took the cell phone out of my right pocket, etc.
Our `74 coupe was hot because the collectors on the headers were just below by right calf- a situation we improved using Reflectix as an insulator/sound barrier when the new carpet went in. But I'm not inclined to rip the interior out of the C6 . . .yet.
Thanks for the post. I generally focus so much on the driving experience, that I'm oblivious to some of the cockpit issues - but in spite of my ample insulation, I absolutely felt the heat!

I met the owner of Elite. GREAT GUY!!!! Fabulous product as well.
I installed the stainless/ceramic plate. OMG, the car is so much cooler in the floor and console area.
Seems to come and go in mine -- never terribly uncomfortable, but on a couple of the 800+ mile days, with 95-100 F external temps, I could feel the warmth. But sometimes I can drive for hours and never notice any heat. If it bugged me, I would go for some of the add on insulation, but as it is, I just stash my chocolate in the house, never in the console
Mine warms a bit, but not uncomfortably so. The drink holder will, however, warm you can of soda in no time.
I take 2 semi-frozen bottled water on my 1.5 hr commute to work. The water get warm in no time. I does not bother me though. I might try Elite's ceramic plate.

That's because you don't live in Texas. 98 outside - 110+ on my hip. I've learned to leave to AC blowing on my feet to offset some of the heat.
