Vibrating Gear Shift

I am really surprised that most owners with this problem seem to accept that it is just a normal sound. I have owned many sports cars with manual transmissions and have never heard this in any of them. I love my Vette and would live with the chatter but it should not exist in a car of this price.

I don't mean to imply that 911s are without fault or drawbacks, or that I don't enjoy the Vette, despite the rattle. Actually, my old Porsche friends love the C6; I think they were more excited than me when I decided to buy one. Later, after giving them my impressions of the car---and the rattling shifter--one of my buddies replied (yup, you guessed it): "They all do that" (his family has owned many Vettes). Of course, there is a TSB for the C5's gear shifter rattle. Which, I'm told, doesn't apply to the C6 (it's supposed to already have the TSB fix).
If this part number turns out to be correct, I'm gonna' be all over my dealer for the fix. As I was before, when I was ultimately told by the regional rep (what do they call that guy?) there was nothing he could do for me.
I think people should continue to report the shifter rattle to their dealers, make sure GM gets the message (if they haven't already).

I'm amazed at the (fortunately few) replies that seem to brush off this problem.
The gear mechnism is a lever and a pushrod system. Repeat... a lever... a pushrod. If GM can't get at lever and a pushrod right and if Corvette loyalists excuse this then the situation is sad.
The Corvette is a great car in many ways but to excuse this kind of problem only contributes to GM's problems. True believes may excuse it but the sales of true believes can't save GM and at the end of the day the Corvette.
Tomorrow my Corvette goes in to replace the clutch packs, inspect the creaking/popping top and examine the shifter rattle. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
And if anyone thinks I don't like my Corvette because I complain, they are wrong. It's a blast to drive, looks great and I was proud as heck when I sat in the stands at the ALMS race here in Houston and watched them roar by passing Porsches with ease and outrunning the Aston Martins. Winning LeMans put a big smile on my face as well.

I'm looking to see if anyone else has had this problem before I go to the dealer.
Thanks.
I've been down this path with Weseloh in San Juan Capistrano (who did all they could), car was there several times. They ultimately called in the regional rep. He acknowledged that he could hear the rattle, but did nothing for me. I'm officially on record with GM customer service as being dissatisfied with the repair (or lack thereof).

My '06 has no vibration at all (5,000 miles) but I'm going to install a Callaway shifter, which supposedly has no vibration, and is a much better, more positive shifter as well.
I've found the stock shifter satisfactory for normal driving but the gates are not positive enough for more spirited driving (in my opinion).
Seems, I either learned to ignore it, or it went away after about 15,000+ miles
'05 MN6 coupe 24,000+ miles
