Default New Rear Diff needed....

So I took my vette into service so an oil change and alignment. Asked for them to check for the grinding noise I was hearing during very low powered turns.

Comes back and I need a new diff. Have to sched it for another time, need the car for 2 days, so maybe next week.

on the upside, while waiting for it to be ready, bought a 2006 trailblazer SS for my wife Yes I know it's just a trailblazer, but now I can say "you don't need to drive my vette, you have the same engine honey"

What's the need or cause of this of having to get a new differential? Do you track the car or drive hard?

They said they won't know till they get it off the car, but they say it sounds like it's starting to fail, and that the increases stress is causing the grinding noise.

I love driving, so I don't drive easy. But no 0-60 runs, and no track time. Not yet anyway

thing that really sucks is I'll have to break in the new diff

I thought they're just supposed to put in new clutch plates for that?

Default Funny you say that...

I thought so too. But according to the service guy, they think they will have to replace the whole diff. But we'll know for sure once they tear my poor baby apart.

Isn't it transparently clear??!! Desmoden didn't change his oil to Amsoil or Redline. Better hurry up, LSWON, those metal shavings are eating up your differential even as we speak!

Edit: After a close inspection, I bet they change the clutch plates...maybe only a fluid change after they talk to GM.

Nice. The SS Trailblazers are pretty sweet. I'm holding out for a new Suburban SS (Please GM!)

Desmoden,
Sorry to see you need a new diff, but congrats on the new ride. My wife has the Trailblazer EXT with the 5.3L V-8 which we bought well before the SS came out. We really use the third row seat often so I doubt I'd ever really be able to buy her the SS, but I look at it everytime I go by the dealership. Very sharp looking truck.

No need for that GM fluid is life of the car. There is no need for a drain interval with this vehicle unless you do have problems or leaks.

WOW!!!...Remarkable insight.

Someone must have kidnapped you, taken you to intervention camp, tied you to a chair, and de-programmed you. Or...someone else has been posting under your name.
