Just got home from Portland International Raceway where Corvette Racing won the GT1 race against Aston Martin. Corvette led the whole way. It was a beautiful thing. The sound of those Corvette's is like nothing else out on the track. You can hear them coming from quite a ways a way. They roar.
It was very hot today in the 90's and the track was slick but no major accidents.
They allowed the Padock pass holders to go out on to the track and view the cars just before the race. There was also an autograph session at the Corvette hospitality tent.
There was a Corvette Coral set up so there were a bunch of Corvettes all parked together. The drivers came out and handed out a few prices for their picks. Most prices went to C1's and one yellow Z06. I took my C4 Collector vert. Met lots of nice Corvette people.
I'll be posting a some pictures later. What a fun time.

Thanks for pointing that out.
USE A SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is common courtesy to put a spoiler in the tag such as Corvette Race results inside. This way folks like me who are stuck with the tape delay broadcast can watch the race with some anticipation.

Well, I would've seen it from SpeedTV anyway brfore watching it, but It won't keep me from watching the race.
I've been to Mid-Ohio quite a few times and that is a great place to watch the GT1 cars run. The sounds off the trees, and the great places to view are alot of fun.
$15 for a weekend paddock pass is great too. Got inches away from the C6Rs sitting outside of their garages and then BAM...Dave Hill standing next to me. Didn't recognize him at 1st, and then as he walked away, someone asked him something, and I heard his voice.
By then, a mass of people were there.
Heading to Petit LeMans this fall in Atlanta... cannot wait!
If I had a Vette, I'd be in the Paddock, but I don't think the SS is welcome, even though Chevy touts it as teh "little brother" of the C6 in the commercials.
Maybe i'll see some forum members there.

Just goes to show you how well the Corvettes run. They restrict them to the point that they can't make a mistake and yet they still pull it off. So, what kind of restrictions are next? One less wheel?
Anyway, congrats to the Corvette team and thanks for the information.

I was going to edit my post and correct that I was going to watch it on speed tv....
It is on CBS at 3 EST.
Just keep watching and do what I do when I tape a race.. and watch it again and again.... hoping that teh outcome will be different... hehehehe
Like that darn 2003 Lemans race... maybe that's why the corvette race cars haven't been painted that color scheme since...
Thanks for posting the race information....it sounded like a fun day. I Tivo'd the SCCA Speed GT Challenge race from Utah yesterday to watch Lou from LG Pro Motorsports run the 28 Corvette. I'll check when this GTI race will broadcast this race in my area.
I know they need rules and regulations in each class but the imposed 'performance equalizations' are often pretty lame. I'm glad Corvette Racing is back on top. Go Corvette!
