Default Does your C6 particularly 07' C6 do this?

I've only had my 07 couple a few days, but there is something I'm noticing that doesn't look right.....the display window that shows the driver and passenger side temperatures.......when you first get in the car after it's sat for awhile, there are some rainbow images especially in the middle area. Then when you crank the car, you can still see them a little bit, but 5-10 minutes later they start to disappear. Then when you turn the car off, you don't see them anymore. Is this something to do with the liquid crystal display, and is it NORMAL?

Also, is anymore else's ashtray seem to open when it wants too? I read a post about the tray not being seated properly possibly causing this, but I took it out and put it in as far as it would go, and it still opens itself from time to time....very annoying.

And, when you raise your deck lid.....around the edges of the molding that surrounds your back glass on the outer truck lid edge there is about a 1/4 -1/2 inch area that is painted the color of your car. I just noticed that there is a ton of overspray, and not just overspray but actual solid black in several areas where it looks like the black molding was sprayed while installed on the car???? Now, why wouldn't that be painted off the car, then installed and how could someone be so sloppy as to do that on a 60k car!!! Please look at yours when you get a chance to see if you had the same thing happen.

I only see the rainbow colors when I have sunglasses on,and I have an 05!!I have noticed that the paint job on the car is not particularly 1st class in the less conspicous areas.

On my 05 coupe, the climate control has the same rainbow effect whether wearing glasses or not. Never really bothered me much.
I guess i got lucky with the ashtray door, it works perfect.
Except for the orange peel the paint looks ok.

Same rainbow effect on my 06' Climate Control.

I had just the opposit with my ashtray. It wasn't soft touch to open and close I had to push on the bottom of the door to open it and push again when I wanted it closed. This has been posted before and the dealer should have no problem fixing this.

Remember LCD uses polarization as a basic function of its display technology. Often you see a "rainbow effect" especially with glasses that are polarized as well. After the crystals are energized the effect is less noticeable.

Are you sure the dealer took the static cling protective corver off of it during PDI?

Just to clear things up......I do not have sunglasses on when seeing the rainbow effect in the climate control window, and there is no static cling protective cover on it either......

Yes, I have seen the rainbow effect, w/o sunglasses on. No problem with ashtray door, and no real issues with the paint job. Hmmmmm, I almost forgot there was an ashtray in the car.

It could be a problem with the LCD. Take an old cheap calculator and squeeze the display. You will see the same colors you are talking about. If the glass plates on the Vette's display are too tight, you can get this color effect. If so, the dealer should be able to get it replaced.

1. Have noticed rainbow effect from time to time but it does not bug me a bit -- I can still read display perfectly well.

2. No ashtray problems. There seems to be a fix by manipulating the spring, OR, you can try taking it to dealer for replacement -- while this is a relatively common complaint, it seems most are okay, so chances of getting a good replacement are high.

3. Hatch is fine. Paint is fine. Diff is fine. Roof....? Well, not so much, but I am waiting it out with my clear one until the final fix seems to be available.

1. Disclaimer: I don't have this issue, so I am just passing along info

2. The key would apear to be to weaken the spring and also remove any excess flash (plastic) from the latch tab

3. Detailed instructions on removal:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...31&postcount=5

4. If it seems to much of a hassle, I reiterate, just take it to dealer, they should make it right. If you don't want ot take it in just for the ashtray, start a list of minor nits (if any) and take in that list when you next need service.
