Does anyone have a recommendation on where to take my car to have standard wheel work done (i.e. tires replaced)? Authorized GM dealership or elsewhere? Since I have chrome rims, I don't want scratches and/or chips included as part of my service. Any input would be appreciated.
I've had wheel work done on a lot of billet wheels that are extremely expensive. I've had the work done at just about any tire store. Just go in and ask them if they have a machine that doesn't touch the rim during the mounting process. Ask to see the machine if you want and see how it operates. That should give you some satisfaction as to weither they will scratch your wheels or not. I'd suggest you tell them that you want to watch them do it as well.
Call a local exotic car dealer and ask who does their wheel/tire work. A local used Corvette specialty house here uses a Discount Tire location so that's where my tires are purchased and mounted. They are very familiar with Corvette wheels, EMT tires and picky Corvette owners.

Very few Chevy dealerships are equipped to change tires. They farm that sort of work out to a local tire shop.
