I received my first wave the first time I drove the new Corvette. This was with the salesman as he was showing me how it worked. A nice tradition and very common in this area. But this is the Friendship state.
If the top's down I wave - the other Corvette can see me. But in a convertible with tinted windows and the top up, it is pretty much useless.
With my motorcycles I wave (actually straighten my left arm out and down) except during Bike Week and Biketoberfest...then it is impossible with so many bikes. I wave at both sportbikes and cruisers as I own both.
Bikers waving is much more consistant than Corvette "cagers" waving.
I try to wave whenever I can bit honestly sometime I dont notice them until its just about too late.... but I do try and I get decent responses........
Yes, extensively. I meant no offense toward you, though. The wave is also discussed extensively on the Jeep forum. Jeepers wave, too.
It's funny, I knew nothing of the Jeep wave before I bought my Jeep. It took me about 30 minutes and 2 received waves to figure it out. I also knew nothing of the Vette wave before I bought my Vette, it took me about 30 minutes and 2 received waves to figure it out as well.
I wave at all Corvette's too. I've been driving my Jeep GC for 3 yrs and have never been waved at.
I wave at all vettes regardless if I get one back. There are many new vette owners who probably don't know that the wave has been around for many years. The instructions on how to wave should be on page one in the owner's manual.
I wave at all the vettes... which is about once a month (I'm in France, so I don't get to see that many).
So, because I felt I need to practice the wave more often, I extended the tradition to waving at all the chicks... they usually wave back
