waving is like a smile or being considerate - don't expect it back. Enjoy it for yourself. I love spotting vette's - sometimes in the periffereurl (is that a word)?
How often do you wave at another Vette? Do you just wave to C6s or all vettes?
Yes, it has been discussed, a lot. I wave at all Vettes, always that is the tradition. I generally wave first. This is my third Corvette (C4, C5 and now my C6.) so I've been doing it for a while.
Seriously, whenever I see another Corvette and have a reasonable expectation that he/she can see me. In Tucson, Arizona, I'd say the vast majority of fellow C6 drivers respond in-kind but for earlier model Corvettes, it's probably less than half. I'm not an elitist, I wave anyway.
i guess you are trying to tell me this has been discussed
Yes, extensively. I meant no offense toward you, though. The wave is also discussed extensively on the Jeep forum. Jeepers wave, too.
It's funny, I knew nothing of the Jeep wave before I bought my Jeep. It took me about 30 minutes and 2 received waves to figure it out. I also knew nothing of the Vette wave before I bought my Vette, it took me about 30 minutes and 2 received waves to figure it out as well.
I wave whenever I see another vette. I get about a 60% return. I still maintain that the exposed headlights on my C6 are so different that other vetters may not recognize it as a vette.
That being said, I got two big thumbs up from a Mazda and some other rust bucket today on the way to work and I waved at them too!
The wave is definitely a tradition for vette owners. I had a '63 Stingray back in '65 and the wave was alive and well back then too. I've posted before that after 38 years without a vette when I finally got another one when the first vette waved at me I got all choked up. It's an awesome tradition that I hope continues for many more decades to come.
