Default Overprotective!

Last night I had cleaned her up and started to put her back in her nest (garage). I did not know how close I was to a drawer and suddenly hit the drawer going 1 or 2 mph, I under estimated the length of the front, ****. That hurt me more that it hurt the vette. Luckly it 3m clear bra took the impact. My other half said "your to overprotective with the vette", it's just a car! Hell ya I'm over protective, there nothing wrong with that! When we go out to eat, watch a movie, malls, or run errands I park far! Are you over protective with your vette?

Overprotective....nah! I just have a perimeter intrusion system installed with microwave & infrared sensors, 6 oz. pressure pads & active video recording.....and that's in the garage. Outdoors, I can activate the gas canisters & 60mm grenade launchers!

I admit to being extremely AR about the car. It's NOT a DD therefore I figure it can and should be kept pristine! When my wife drives it she knows exactly how I feel. It’s not used for things like shopping trips to the mall or work! It’s a play toy that I plan on keeping as nice as I can for as long as I can. Don’t get me wrong because I have 4000 miles on it since I picked it up in May… so it does get used… just not abused…… If she or anyone else doesn’t like it...... tooooooooooooooooo bad because it’s my car and my money. People can use/abuse their cars anyway they want as it’s none of my business!

That "just a car" mentality is precisely the reason most people don't own a Corvette. Heck I wouldn't drop 50-grand on "just a car" either.

I park my car as far out as I possibly can. I am extremely protective of it.

Somewhat overprotective. Biggest concern is leaving it a parking lot. If I am going to a mall, Target, Wal Mart ( ), etc., I usually drive my Jeep.

"Just a car." I think not! If I wanted just a car, I'd be visiting the local Kia or Honda dealership and not saving up $50K for a new Vette.

same here... overprotective even though it's my DD and it's hard sometimes. It drives my wife nuts.

Like it was already said, if I want to be overprotective of my stuff, that's my business, and poeple who respect me should respect the thing I'm overprotective of. If somebody doesn't give a damm about the look of their car, that's fine with me, I really don't care.
I can understand as I could undestand those same poeple can be overprotective of something I wouldn't.

What I can't stand is people that don't care about their car AND don't undesrtand why I would be overprotective of mine. If my car is important to me, they have to respect it.

The vette is for cruising or when I go out on the town, not errands. I have a SUV that I park where ever I feel like and rarely wash! The Vette gets all the love.

Here's one...last evening I went out for some takeout for dinner. When I was leaving the parking lot, I pulled out quickly to make a left between the gaps in traffic, not realizing the parking lot entrance had a severe dip going into the street. The front end slammed to the ground hard. It was bone jarring. I felt sick to my stomach.

Upon my inspection, I saw the two black painted support bars underneath have a layer of metal removed, and there is a nice deep scratch under the fascia. It is not visible unless you look under the nose of the car, and it is making me ill thinking about the incident still. I will be touching it up the best I can this weekend. I am not afraid to get out & drive my car as much as possible, but I am very protective of it, and get ticked off when things like this happen...even if it is only underneath the car.

A guy in our club told a story recently: He saw his wife driving his Vette down the street with the top off and little handle bars sticking up above the roof. Turned out she needed to pick up their lawn edger and couldn't get it in her car. She took the roof off and stuck it in the passenger seat. When she was confronted with it (somewhat agressively, I might add) she told him that she had "it's" seatbelt on so it wouldn't roll into the dash! LMAO!

well i would say that yes i am AR about it but i look at it as protecting an investment. my ol granddaddy use to tell me that "it's more to taking care of it than it is to make'n it." guess he meant any old dumba$$ with a dollar can buy something, it's a wise man that save a dollar by take'n care of what he bought.

I'll be the first to say I'm not over protective of it at all....to me it's just a car....I park it wherever and drive it in the rain.....I take it thru the touchless wash all the time....if it gets a ding or a small scratch I don't stress over it....

I agree with all here except the ones who say its, "just a car." I have two other vehicles in my driveway (the Vette has a garage stall). One is "just a car" and the other is "just a truck." I have been saving for more than 40 years to get this car and after spending the better part of 60K to buy, insure and register it, it will never be "just a car" to me.

Yup, guilty as charged. So protective in fact that I broke the nose of a young "gentleman" who threw a beer can on it and didn't see me a few feet behind him. Not my proudest moment but I will not stand for wanton destruction of my property when I have done nothing to the perp.

There's a women that CLEARLY should be driving an SUV and not a vette! I'm certain my wife understands the repercussions of doing something like with my vette wouldn't be pleasant........ It's funny as long as it wasn't my car transporting the mower!
