Priority Start ?
it into the cigarette lighter? If yes, have you tried it? Mine (a Black &
Decker) says it can be used by plugging it into the cigarette lighter, but
I am a little paranoid
about using it that way.Anyone else use one through the cigarette lighter?
Thanks.

Mine is called Battery Tender and it attaches to a quick connect plug that I wired to the car.
First, as several people have stated the Priority Start is NOT a battery charger etc. It will only shut of the electrical system when the voltage reaches 11.7 volts.Turn on the headlights until the voltage gets down to the disconnect voltage (11.7 volts) for 1 full minute. Make sure the key is OUT of the ignition. You must than wait 1 full minute before reconnecting. Priority Start automatically reconnects by operating the light switch, or running lights, stepping on the brake pedal, or tuning on the ignition key. (Direct quote from the instructions).
Now, about batteries. I did not know this until I contacted Mr. Bill Woods at VDC Electronics.( www.vdcelectronics.com ) He has a battery charger that is the most advanced charger I have ever seen for large batteries. ( I fly Radio-Controlled Models and use to using small batteries like Ni-cads, Nmih, and Lithium types. I have a very sophisticated charger that is constant current, constant voltage etc. for these special battery types).
Bill has a Charger/Maintainer/Desulphhator-Conditioner model # 12248 that is the cat's meow !!
The instruction book is loaded with all kinds of information starting with this warning.
NEVER charge a frozen battery or one at a temperature above 123 degrees! Wow, wonder how hot/cold it gets in the engine compartment....
Lots and lots of other info but this one was verrrry interesting.
Any battery that has seen temperatures above 85 degrees WILL have suffered some sulphation even if new !! Great charger. See his site !!

"Take the Key out of the Ignition". What the He:: are you taking about!
Its' keyless my friend!.
I was wondering if anyone else was going to catch that .

It was a DIRECT quote from the instructions.........
Hey, how would I know. We don't pick up the car at the museum until 9-14-06...
