The "eliminator" has two pins, the connection had 4.

Do you have a picture of the solenoid so can make sure I am working on the right thing? I stopped and put it back together. If not, I will have to return mine.

Thanks
I have a C5, but the plug is the same.....I do not have any pictures but let me see what I can come up with. Worse comes to worse, I will jack up my car and snap a quick picture...Hang in there, I will get you something that will clear it up for you.

If the tranny is similar to the T56 in the camaro, then this might help.

The reverse solenoid is #2 and the skip shift is the next connector forward.

If not, I apologize and I'll wait until I get the Helms on the C6. Until that time, here is a tranny case from a 2004 Y body. The skip shift solenoid is identified in the callout list. May that will help.

Thank you for the help. I am a visual person. A picture is worth a thousand words. I have hit that 1-4 shift point too many times.

Thanks.

Hey GSVette, remember the camaro has the tranny in front, and the Vette in the rear; NOT the same.
Having said that, it should be close, and with enough light, fairly obvious. There's an orange label, plus a mounting 'hole' to secure the connector; that's where a tie-wrap goes.

Whereever you put the transmission, it still looks the same. The skip shift is in front of the reverse lockout solenoid in the similar area of the "rectangle" on top of the tranny in front of the shifter.

Ok, so are you ok? Or do you need me to get under my car and snap a picture for you?

Let me know, and if not I will do it today...

Thanks,

I am still not sure on the location. I thought I might just go to a Chevy dealer and get a parts diagram of a transmission. All the talk about transmissions didn't help. I just need to see what I am looking for.

Default Skip Shift - Take Two...

Just ordered mine. I had installed a different kit - from another vendor - back in May when I first got the C6.

It was slightly cheaper - and somewhat different in design. The wire fell out of the resistor housing after only a couple of months, causing the car to show the check engine light for Skip Shift Solenoid.

Your design - from the pictures at least - looks somewhat better. Thanks! and I look forward to receiving the item.

The main reason why 1-4 skip shift is there is gas savings, is it actual gas savings? not really since anybody who drives a manual corvette uses first gear more than 1300-1500 rpms. So whats the real reason behind all this?

I belive GM used this 1-4 shift thing to beat EPA. When these guys do theri testing for official window sticker MPG figures and gass guzzler tax, I belive they have strict rules on how they drive the test vehicles. I am not sure what they are but they are probably, if its a car, and manual and this many cylinders, then rev engine to thi rpm then shift and rev to this rpm, reach this speed etc.... so Gm found out the paramaters and never gave EPA the chance to use the second gear of their car, since they had to rev it to lets say 2200 rpm to be able to beat the skip shift but rule book said to test you shift before 2200 rpm. As I said earlier i dont know the actual numbers, rules and rpm's but this is the most logical explanation to me.

Jim, just ordered a Skip Shift Eliminator. Sorry to be so ignorant but I assume the 2007 Z06 has the M12 6 speed and that your skip shift eliminator will work on my car. I've searched the forum and haven't found that clearly stated. Thanks, Dennis
