Default Outside temp wrong

did a search and the c5 guys said its the temp sensor. Where is that located on the c6? If it is real cheap and easy to r/r then i'll do it myself.
I am sure you guys can help.
Thanks

It is located behind the front fascia on the passenger side, clipped to the passenger side radiator support. But note carefully that this doesn't work like a regular outdoor thermometer. The display unit will not update until you're going at least 20 MPH for at least 5 minutes. So you shouldn't be surprised if the reading is wrong at startup or if you're idling in traffic.

After you drive for a few minutes, it should update and report the current temperature of the air entering the grille. Typically, this will be several degrees higher than the temperature reported by the weather bureau because it is reading air coming from right above the hot asphalt roadway.

The outside temp gauge is a joke. Mine has worked about 50% of the time in the last 19 months. Told the dealer and he said it was fine. I can drive for 1/2 hour and it doesn't change and is off by 20 degrees or more.

Make sure it's connected and if it is find a new dealer. I find mine to be very accurate and it updates after a few minuets.

I think a bird strike may have done mine in on a recent road trip. Or maybe it was never worth a damn and I've just now noticed.

Mine works fine, if given the time/speed to update.

I find mine is very accurate and updates the temp with no problems. There are some built-in delays on temperature increases. From page 3-29 of the 2006 Owners Manual:

If the outside temperature goes up, the displayed temperature will not change until:
• The vehicle’s speed is above 10 mph (16 km/h) for
five minutes.
• The vehicle’s speed is above 32 mph (52 km/h) for
two and a half minutes.

These delays prevent false readings. If the temperature goes down, the outside temperature will be shown when you start the vehicle. If it has been turned off for less than three hours, the temperature will be recalled from the previous vehicle operation.

My outside temp is always off. The banks temperature gauge on the side of the street never seem to agree with mine.. Sucks....

Mine works fine after the 5 minute wait. If I were you I would find another calibration source other than bank themometers. I know a spot where there are 3 Bank thermometers in a block and they never even come close to agreeing with each other, I have an accurate thermometer and the one in the car reads the same as that or at most one degree different.

My temp gauge was disconnected while having some mods done. While disconnected I got all kinds of unusual outside temp readings. I reconnected it finally and it works pretty well. I think it may be a couple of degrees too high, but it's close enough for me.

Mine seems to be quite accurate - in fact while driving by the local NWS sensor station I checked it and it was within a degree of their temp. Many of the bank thermometers seem to be wildly inaccurate - I hope they do a better job of calculating interest than they do with the temperature!
