Default Problem Opening Doors

Our car is a 2006 Coupe, made February 2006. Total miles about 11,000.

Lately, I've noticed a problem when opening either door: if I have the fob in my pocket and squeeze the touchpad inside the door handle, the door can be opened only about 1/2", then it seems to hit something like the secondary latch on the hood. I must release the touchpad and press it again to open the door the rest of the way. This happens whether or not the door was locked, and it's not related to the window indexing- the problem is there even when the windows are fully down and/or the top has been removed.

Is this normal and i'm just noticing it now, or have both of my doors developed the same problem?

I've noticed that on my '07 coupe. It seams to happen when I'm not pushing the door open quickly enough when the latch is released.

It's like it thinks I'm closing the door. I think if you don't pull firmly the door kind of stay stuck between opened and closed position.

gota07 and The DaveMan are correct.

When we first got the car, I'd squeeze the touchpad and pull the door open immediately, that worked perfectly.

Recently I must have gotten into the habit of squeezing the touchpad and then waiting for the "click" noise. But the "click" is not the sound of the door unlocking, it's actually the sound of the door RE-locking after the first fraction of movement. Thus, my need to re-squeeze the touchpad a second time if I hesitate.

I suspect that this is "Not a bug, it's a feature." If some transient electronic spike caused the door to unlock while driving, it would only open about 1/2" unless you were unlucky enough to be leaning against the door or cornering hard at exactly the right moment.

Either way, thank for the help!
