Register you VIN and they will send you the two updates as they come out.
You can do it yourself, no need to visit the dealer.
Thanks for the information, my man!
Here are a couple of other things that I discovered while doing as you suggested.
1. The site did not recognise my VIN -turns out that my car - less than a month old - had not gone into the system update as yet. The gent that I spoke to fixed that.
2. I was not able to update my information because the web site apparently has an error in a field. Their tech folks are looking into it.
Again the good folks at GM updated it for me.
3. My car was built near the end of the update cycle. My Nav disk part no is 15779579. The latest part number is 15932106. About 1 September we can request that the one year update cycle be overridden so those of us that have the now one year old data can update prior to waiting a year - and having 2 year old data at that point.
Thanks for the info. I went through the traps and gave them my info. When I read the disclaimer more closely it looks like I have to wait a year (Feb 07) to get an updated disk that apparently is available now. Guess we'll see if that is true, but to get a free disk through this site you have to have a control number that comes to you on a postcard.

They are going to override that in September on request is what the nice lady that I spoke with told me. We just have to call.
Those who are in mid cycle really won't benefit as much as those who got their disks at the tail end of the cycle. On the other hand, if I upgrade early, the benefit will be the most current data. The cost will be effectively be giving up one upgrade.
Anybody try to get an update free for an '05? Who knows, maybe they'll reward us "early adapters" and give us a free one. Can't hurt to try.
LOL- I tried yesterday. Talked to "gmnav" And they wouldn't budge an inch! 2005? tough luck.
I then went to "my" GM rep and she talked to the dealer, both service and parts...lol("duh....what update?")
She then went to gmbav and got the same reply I did - tough luck you early owners!
She offered me a free lube job(lol). Which I declined saying it was a poor substiutute for making a Corvette owner happy.
I can understand that these nav disc cannot be all that "cheap" to "service". The company that does all the scut work must charge the manufacturers a pretty penny.
BUT - when I hear that if you bought a USED 'vette after last April you are entitled to a free up grade in the future, it drives me crazy.
I'll just wait fore an interprising forum brutha to dup a copy and "buy" it from him.
I love my car but this one little thing is driving me crazy.....NOT crazy enough to never buy another Corvette tho.
You can now call GM Nav at 877-628-3472 and order the new DVD, part no. 15932106. If you have a free two year update, ordering it now will use up one of the two freebies. They ship UPS ground, 5-7 working days on delivery. The cost to purchase the disc would have been $207.00
According to the rep. on the phone, these DVD's only came out about three weeks ago so if your build date was before this time period, you can't get the update without using one of the two freebies. If the build date was within the past three weeks, you should be OK to get the update and not be charged against the freebie program.
The person I spoke with on the phone (Nita) was very friendly and courteous.
Hopefully my street will appear on this newer version.
Every time I read one of these nav update threads I'm
I need to quit reading them.
Seems that gmnav could just ad the 05 nav optioned car serial numbers to the data base and provide 1 free update for the version that was 2 years old when the car was new.
I guess I should be happy that this is the only issue I have with the car.
Hopefully my street will appear on this newer version.
I know you already placed the order so it's a moot point, but if you want I can check if your address is in 3.0. So far I've checked for 4 other people and none of them have been added, so I'm not sure how much new data 3.0 has. One nice thing though, and I only confirmed it this weekend going up to New Hampster, is that there's a lot less of the "Continue driving straight" on the interstate . It's not gone completely, but I'd say it happens now maybe 1/3 the # of times it happened with 2.0 .

Where do I get the control number from, besides the vin #??
I've been wondering about this. My '06 came with a pledge of two updates of the GPS disc. If you go to this site, it says that there is an upgrade to the '06 DVD, yet I have not received the card, with the code to order it. Do I have to do something, or does it come on its own?
I was talking to Chevy regarding my subscription to Corvette Quarterly, which never came on its own, and they had no knowledge of the two free updates, even when I read them the brochure reference.
I actually got my new 05 a little over 1 month ago (147 miles and not yet titled). It was a left over. All the toys 3lt.
I called after 32 days of ownership and was told that if I had called 2 days eariler they would have sent me a disk for free (1 disk only). I've got the dealer working on it. So hopefully, I will at least get one for free.
