Default C6 Reliability

I'm very close to ordering an 07 C6 coupe but am still a bit concerned about overall reliability of this vehicle. I recently checked out what Consumer Reports had to say about the C6 and was concerned. They reviewed an 05 and gave it their lowest 'expected reliability' rating of 'very poor'. They had particular issues with the electrical system. Granted, 2005 was a first year run and I've certainly seen other manufactures struggle with their initial problems as well. Unfortunately, Consumer Reports does not go beyond 2005 with their review so I'm trying to see how much the 2006/07 model years have improved? Has GM successfully addressed the issues that Consumer Reports points out? Any feedback would be much appreciated as I'd really like to determine if the reliability has been successfully addressed. Thanks

I don't believe that CR states exactly why they rate the Vette low with respect to electrical system problems, but to the extent it was caused by batteries going dead it does seem to have been solved on the '06's.

i have my car since april, about 3,000 miles. general build quality seems pretty good so far, and paint quality is excellent. i have the painted top, and it has not delaminated yet. other than that and the squeaky z51 breaks, the only issues so far are the ash tray opening (there is a tsb on it) and the quality of the highly polished aluminum wheel finish, which wasn't as good as i hoped. overall, very happy with the car

14,000 miles and not one problem, oops, one problem the roof thing. But hey it's a car.

My 05 has had many electrical issues including DBS and a fuel send issue that they can't seem to resolve. I just dropped it off again at the dealer this AM. I am looking for a GM buyout and a new 07 Vette. I wouldn't be going for another if I didn't believe that most of the issues had been resolved. Many forum members have had excellent luck with their vehcles. Just go for it. It is alot of performance for the money.

My household is a Toyota shop for daily drivers, so I was shocked to basically learn that my 2006 C6 has never been to the dealer, while my 2005 Toyota Sienna practically lives at the dealer (tons of issues). The Sienna is rated very highly by CR.

I think GM has gotten a lot better - to the point where my next family hauler will probably come from them.

You should have no issues with a 2007.

My '05 is one of the first 4000 built. Not one issue. It's the luck of the draw with any car. Go for it...

CR is a joke

Never had a problem with the C5 or the two different C6s I've had. Nothing but oil changes. Stepdad and a friend of his both have C6s, no problems whatsoever. The only problem I can recall any corvette I've been around in the last 4 years personally is the weatherstripping seperating on the top of a '04.

Just get it. It's a sports car. A toy. If you want a reliable, absolute bore to drive car, check out a Honda or Toyota lot.

Just kidding around

If you're buying a refrigerator or washing machine check our Consumer Reports, but for reviewing cars, especially a high performance car like the C6, I wouldn't rely on their findings. 2005 C6 Vert absolutely no problems so far, coming up on 1 year on 9-27-06 7728 miles

Get used to it because they have been giving Corvette low ratings for the last 20 years +.

CR has recently conducted a test on the ZO6 and other high end sports cars where the primary reason that it took 2nd place was "predicted reliabilty" issues.

They have proven themselves completely inept in their report. I do like their 0-60 time of 4.2 when it should be closer to 3.7.

I am not sure if their future reliability test was conducted with tea leaves, crystal *****, Ouija board or if it comes from a dislike of GM in general. Maybe the editor drives a Porsche.

This is the first time they ever even purchased cars at this level to even test.

Use CR for that next dishwasher or microwave oven purchase......but not for high end sports cars please.

8400 miles on my '05 C6..
only issues were the squeeky brakes (fixed at N/C) and the fuel sending unit (fixed at N/C)...

Runs like a scalded dog!!

12,000+ on 2005 no major problems just a lame stereo and a few warranty repairs: Fuel filler door cable broke, DrL light out at 300 miles and now a stereo that gets the worst FM reception.

No it hasn't. I have had DBS twice with my 2006 A6.

I've had my '05 C6 since June 05 & aside from two DBS episodes (one of which I'm pretty sure was my error), she's been perfect. You won't find a more exciting ride for the money, so go for it!

Default Awesome AND Reliable!

IMO CR is a joke. I wouldn't rely on them for a rating on anything. By the way, who rates the raters??
I have '07 VR Vert Z51 M6 for 5 weeks now with 4,000 miles. No problems at all (except for the GRIN on my face!) This is one AWESOME machine that will go way faster than I ever will and gee it only gets 25 mpg. What else can I say?
