Second, like others have said, if someone is forking out $40k for a car, he/she will probably fork out another 6-10K for a brand new one.
The one year Vette market is for those who prefer to let someone else get slammed for the 1st year's depreciation. Depreciation in years 1-3 are the worse, and begin leveling off in year 4. Guess what....you are on the wrong end of that deal.
But, if you have to sell, you must be able to realize the loss. I keep cars til the wheels fall off. But I have had to sell 2 cars in my lifetime when they were only 2 years old. Really painful. Look at it this way...there is no other consumer product out there that you can recover > 80% of the price paid after you bring it home.
