Default Non-Corvette Wave

My wife and I took a drive yesterday from Chicago to Champaign and back. By count we got at least five different cars/people who waved at us, gave us a "thumbs up" and the like. No, they were not driving Vettes. I am regularly stopped at gas stations and rest stops by "non-Vette" people who ask about the car and say how beautiful it is (LMB).

How many of you have the same experience? Also, for those who have or have had a 911, for example, have you had the same experience with "non-Porche" people on the roads, or is this pretty much a Vette thing?

We get the thumbs up or just a compliment all the time.

I stopped to fill up on the way home from the dealer and I got a honk and thumbs up from someone in the gas station. I hadn't even had it 30 minutes .

I got a wave from a driver in a new 911 the other day. I was shocked.

If I'm driving another vehicle than my Corvette, I often give a 'thumbs-up" to passing Corvettes. If you're not in a Vette, the Wave would give the impression you know the person (which I don't) so a thumbs-up is a pretty universal 'nice car' gesture.

I've been getting all kinds of rolling compliments lately....not so much 'thumbs-up' gestures but people driving next to me leaning out their window and saying "nice car." I kept getting next to a very clean C5 in traffic the other day, he heard my car (maybe saw the Lingenfelter badge) his window came down and he just said "sweet." I said "thanks" and looking at his car...gave him a thumbs-up.

In the past month I have ridden my MC as far West as Billings, MT and Yellowstone and as far East as central Massachusetts and Hershey, PA. I only got south of the Mason-Dixon line for a couple of days. If I see the 'Vette in time, there is a good chance they are going to get a wave. Many did. The way I figure it, while I am on the bike, there is enough of me exposed for them to see that they don't know me.

It happens often, even by pedestrians.

A Corvette is something very special and it just seems to have a certain mystique that attracts attention
