hey guys ,i dont know which unit you have ,but in my mazda rx8 we had the navtech.if you need an updated disc for that unit .go to rx8 forum and there is a post where you can download the new disc for free.hope this helps
.
Our car was built in February 2006, I called the number today and they verified that a new disc is available (free for us 2006 folks, my condolences if you have a 2005). It should arrive in 1-2 weeks UPS, they will also allegedly send us our second/final free disc when version 4 becomes available. The agent needed to know our VIN and date of purchase. He also said that the new version usually becomes available in August of each year.
Anyone here wanna help a fellow Vette owner out and burn me a copy of the 3.0 disc? I (like many of the others) was an unlucky '05 buyer and therefore get no love from GM on Nav updates!
Luckily I was able to locate another forum member who was nice enough to burn me a copy of the v2.0 disc. It is really easy to do & I can walk you through it if you don't mind spending a few minutes to show your fellow corvetteforum member some love. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to display it to everyone.
You guys should have seen the version 1 that came in my 05! West of the Mississippi River there was just blue space with pictures of sea dragons......!!
Actually, I have all three versions and there are some differences that I have noticed in the data, but it usually has to do with interstate construction and some new information in the POI database. I really should update only every other year, but I can't resist.
Can you imagine the monumental task of putting every new street, POI, etc. on the disck for the entire country and parts of Canada? Nearly an impossible task. You might contact Denso or whoever is providing the discs for GM to inform them of desired corrections.
I have the 3.0 version that I got in 4 days from the GM disc center after I called their toll-free number. Good service.
GM does not make the discs - Denso does. They have many on staff who drive about the country looking for any changes. The information does not get to them by osmosis. If it's not on the master map and you don't tell them about the omission, it may never appear.

Thanks guys!
That's also copyright infringement. Might as well burn all of his CD's for you as well.

Actually, I sure hope that's not how they get new data. It would make far more sense for them to acquire public record data on developments and street construction. Trying to drive around and find "changes" makes little sense is (as we've seen) a futile exercise. For example, My Lexus NAV update had my street over two years ago. Denso still doesn't have it even though I updated it before the 3.0 disk came out.
This system is so far inferior to a Garmin portable that it is criminal to charge for updates.
It's also inferior to the system in my wife's 07 Acura RDX. Her voice recognition system is really state-of-the-art, not to mention placement on the dash. It's getting a little annoying when she gets in the passenger seat of the vert and asks are you going to use the prototype to get us where we're going?
