Scraped Curb
Last night while I was maneuvering my 3-week old C6 around cars and a tanker truck in a gas station, I scraped against a curb. I scraped about 8 inches on the bottom edge of the panel right behind the right front tire. Some of the paint is off, and the surface is gouged. I want to get it fixed, but I have read some horror stories on the Forum about body shops. The damage is only visible if you are at ground level. How would a body shop repair the scrape? About how much should I expect to pay? Thanks. I feel like an idiot.
If it's of any consolation....I did the same thing 4 weeks ago while visiting Nashville, similar damage but closer to the rear wheel on the pass side. I am just going to fix the damage myself, already got the correct color match and clear coat.
At a body shop I would guess it could cost between $200 - $400. Find someone local and tell him you don't want a bill and that it is not an insurance claim. Good luck getting it all fixed up.

I did the same 2 weeks ago,the repaint on the right front fender,Total was $389.00 and all is good.
So sorry to hear that. I have tried to be very careful with mine but ya never know what will happen. Good luck on the repairs!
No matter how careful I am with this car, always something happens I scraped bottom lightly going into an area to rinse the car off after work. When I looked it just brushed the right side under neath the fender.
No biggie but I did not need to do that!
Don't feel bad. These cars are so low the chances of hurting something sometime are pretty high. You can be so careful, and then you'll be in some situation, most likely in some strange place in the dark, and you won't see something and you'll hear a scrape. For me it was a curb in Carmel, and I scraped up the front air dam pieces. I got lucky, it was only the plastic parts and easily replaced, but it happened. And I'm neurotic about being careful.
Don't beat yourself up over it...accidents happen. Get 2 estimates....one from a Corvette dealership bodyshop and another from the best shop you can find that deals mostly with exotics. They'll have it looking good as new.
I always try to be careful and then...a fluorescent light bulb fell about 10' onto the hood of my car dinging the paint. I may try DIY but likely, I'll opt for a professional job being it's on the hood.

I just picked up my Vette from the body shop. The cost was a little over $500, and the damage was all cosmetic. With the car less than three weeks old, I couldn't just let it go. I hope new Corvette owners pay attention to similar posts in the Forum. It is very easy to scrape the bottom of this car and can be difficult to see exactly how close the front of the car is to a low immoveable object. One more piece of advice. If you don't know what dirt or grime is on your car, don't just spray it with detail spray and wipe it with a microfiber towel. Fortunately the body shop also polished out the scratches I made.

Just run your hand down your fender, hood or trunk lid (vert) and feel the grime under your fingers. When you do a "quick detail" on the car, you're grinding that grit into your paint. This is the best way to ruin your clearcoat and give yourself a good case of spidermarks. Good piece of advice.
Glad your car came out fine. Mine was involved in a hit and run a while back in AC. I took it to the body shop and they told me to try fixing it myself. I used my Porter-Cable and lots of compound and you can't even tell it was scraped by an azzwipe.

As noted in an earlier post, I have done the same... well, as luck would have it, last night I smacked a huge piece of tire tread in the fast lane.
Got the repair estimate today... $1,000
