Default Bluetooth or Not??

Another stupid question. Does the fact that I couldn't find a bluetooth setup procedures in the manual mean our C6's are not bluetooth compliant? I was under the assumption they were.

No bluetooth in the C6 (I do miss it coming from an Acura TL). Have to go aftermarket for BT.

I am thinking of getting one of those Parrot Bluetooth hands-free jobbies. I saw another post where they put the black and white version in the ashtray, and it looks good, but there is a color version out which is a little bigger. They run $150-$180, have a mic for hands-free talking and a cable that plugs somewhere that will mute the radio on incoming calls.

Anyone hear about/have one of these?

Not in the C6. I have it in my M45 Infiniti (and the Acura I traded for it). If GM doesn't get with the program soon, they should be shot. In fact, I'm to the point of thinking the government should require it as a safety feature.

THey will hurt their Onstar phone program if they install blue tooth, so you can thank Onstar.

I did. Only 1 post with 2 pictures. There is aslo a reference to a non-existent entry in the C6 audio FAQ.

There is a website callet parrotkits.com that sells harnesses, but they dont have one for the C6 (surprise, surprise). From the 1 post I found I assume the Parrot can be installed, but that post had an aftermarket radio. No word on whether it works or how it works with a Bose/NAV setup.

I am thinking of doing the oink oink all the way to Guinea....

The hands-free set up I have using Verizon through the OnStar system works fine for me. It plays through the stereo and can be as loud or quiet as I want. It does not work well with the top down however.

If I could switch to Verizon, I would. It sounds like the most convenient way to go. But I am stuck with a Cingular contract, my wife and parents have Cingular, and I just bought a replacement Treo 650 not 3 months ago. They should not be tied to any one cellular carrier. Being able to share your minutes with your cellphone plan is a great feature.

mixed feelings. I think its easier to run a BT headset. Quieter and better quality than a built in system. Also easier to upgrade. But some sort of handfree should be mandatory when driving.

Basic moto headset and my e815 works fine whenever I need to drive while talking. And voice dial FTW.

I too wish the C6 had a bluetooth setup.

We have bluetooth in our Infiniti M35 and it is great.

I have a PDA/bluetooth phone (Cingular 8125) and I place it in a grip that fits inside the cup holder. I use the tiny Motorola ear peice which hooks up 100% with my phone. When the phone rings, I can easily see who is calling and I simply touch the ear peice to talk. Very clear and my callers tell me that it's clearer than our Infinfiti.

But, the audio system does not silence itself, so I reach over and lower the volume. This is a minor inconveneince that I can live with.

Yes, I think Onstar is the reason you do not see bluetooth in GM products.

BMW has assist but also has a universal Bluetooth retrofit kit for countries that BMW is not setup with Assist. BMW Assist is just like Onstar. www.bimmernav.com has retrofit kits to swap out BMW Assist with this universal bluetooth system. What does GM do in countries where there is no Onstar? Is there no option for phone in those countries, or do they have Bluetooth?

If they had GM Bluetooth in any country I am sure we could swap out the Onstar with Bluetooth

BINGO

FWIW....I know I'm in the minority but I have OnStar (basic package) and feel its' hands-free calling and other features are worth the pennies a day it costs. I'm just waiting to see what its' monthly diagnostic report says now that I have an entirely different engine in the car.

My biggest aggravation with On Star's system is it continually screws up understanding who I am asking it to call. I guess I just need to speak clearer to it.

Bluetooth phone connections are magic! Most functional and seamless electronic device I've ever seen. I've had it for a couple of years on my DD and I certainly wish my coupe had it.

Last night I saw a TV ad for a new Nissan econobox - I've forgotten the name - but it has Bluetooth standard! Couldn't have cost them much. C'mon Chevrolet. Get with the program.
