My condolences ydlee24. Unfortunately I know exactly what you're going through. My wife and I drove down to Maryland for a few days just this past Columbus Day weekend.

The second night we were there someone targeted my car while it was in the parking lot. The lot paving consisted of stones about one inch in diameter. Early in the morning an eye witness at the hotel saw a pickup truck doing figure eights in the lot and throwing lots of the stones into the cars. Half a dozen or so cars were damaged but mine bore the brunt. The car needs to be repainted, the driver's side and passenger's side mirrors were destroyed, the rear glass is full of chips and the rear tail lamp lenses need to be replaced. About $10,000 worth of damage I suppose.

Anyone know a good paint shop on Long Island?

I would recommend what every auto paint shops are affliated with your insurance company.
What color is your vette? I wish some how should have made my damage more for a new paint job. I now have black but would love a Dark Charcoal Gray.

My vette is Magnetic Red Metallic.

I'm wary of using a shop affiliated with my insurance company. I don't know if they would do the best job or if they are familiar with painting a vette.

Someone recently posted a thread about having their car painted dark grey. I think they referred to it as "gunmetal grey".

Too bad the poster didn't know about the previous Escalade vandalism.
It's odd that this little tid-bit wasn't already shared knowledge, seeing as a friend will be parking his new Z06 out front...
Really! That struck me as a bit strange myself. Hey, my Escalade had the crap beat out of it last month. Howsa bout you park your Corvette in that thar same spot and we'll see if it attracts the same attention. Woulda been nice to know, eh? Maybe that's not what happened but if so and that happened to me, I can think of a certain "friend" that I'd like to have over for some batting practice myself.

I'll double check but I think recent passed legislation allows us to shoot um here in Alabama for that chit. "Looked like they were trying to break in officer"

Default Painted Vette

Some punks spray painted my vette while it was in my driveway. On the hood, windshield, and rear. Guy accross the street worked at a bodyshop and came out and showed me a fairly easy way to get it off, but that's not the point. It's like people said. You work hard to get cool stuff. Then people vandalize it just cause they didn't work hard and don't have cool stuff.

Not that it's better, but at least you can understand why people bash a window to take your cellphone. But vandalizing gains them nothing. Also had my jeep tire slashed along with about 10 other cars on my street.

Yeah, I moved the F&# outa that area!

But I would agree with the F'it view. I'd rather just drive my car and risk vandalizem then live in fear. If you don't get to enjoy the stuff you worked for, then the punks win!

Random vandalism is just bad boys being bad boys.
But much vandalism is directed. Directed at someone the vandal has some sort of beef with. So in that sense they gain coup by striking your coupe.

Too bad the cops don't take vandalism seriously. Singapore may have something better.
What was the name of that kid that spray painted cars overthere? He is a diplomats kid if memory serves. I bet he hasn't done any spray painting lately... pain teaches.

The cops did come but the guy was gone by then. The town is very small and it was an officer from the County Sheriff's department that came. The Sheriff's office is about 25 minutes away from the town.

I was told that someone called in an anonymous tip informing the Sheriff who the person was who did the damage and the person at the hotel who witnessed the incident described the car that did it. Even with this information I don't know if the Sheriff's office is going to pursue it.

One thing that astonished me was the attitude of some of the other hotel guests with whom I spoke. They felt that it was no big deal; just some kids having fun on a Saturday night!

How do you know, or why do you suppose they were targeting your car?

I felt bad when I came out from work and someone put a door chip in my '61. I cannot imagine how you felt. Even with the hangover.

Park out there again and watch during the night. It would be a shame if your Rottweiller happened to get off his chain about the time they got on top of your car.

Hope your repairs come out well.

I believe the reason was envy. These were inbred white trash from a small town who saw a nice car with New York plates.

I was also menaced by a car which fits the description of the car that caused the damage. My wife and I were leaving a local restaurant when the menacing incident happened. The damage to my car and the others occurred about four hours later.

By the way they weren't boys, they were girls.

I'm very sorry that these punks did this to your beautiful Vette.

But there was a small victory for you, unfortunately you weren't there to witness it. Image the surprised look in there faces when they slashed your tires thinking they would flatten them and you'd be stuck there the next day. And like Superman, your tires stood tall and you drove off in the morning.
