Default Tire Pressures WHEN??

I have run flats (as I gather most do). My pressures run from 30 to 34 pounds when warm and 28 to 32 pounds when cold.

My questions are, When do you measure and what are the proper pressures when you do?

Also do all tires need to ne the same (or closer then a 4 pound variance).

Thanks for any help you can give

Scott

Check the label on the inside of the driver's side door frame for the recommended tire inflation. I believe, you want all 4 tires at 30lbs when cold. The Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPM) is fine for spot readings but I would suggest buying a digital tire gauge to use when filling your tires and to verify the pressures shown on the TPM.

Some information about the TPM is, in part, as follows:

The Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) System on your vehicle,
uses radio and sensor technology to check tire pressure
levels. Sensors, mounted on each tire and wheel
assembly transmit tire pressure readings to a receiver
located in the vehicle. The TPM sensors transmit tire
pressure readings once every 60 seconds while the
vehicle is being driven and once every 60 minutes when
the vehicle is stationary for more than 15 minutes. Using
the Driver Information Center (DIC), tire pressure levels
can be viewed by the driver. The TPM system also uses
the DIC to warn the driver when air pressure, in one or
more tires, falls below 24 psi (164 kPa) or is above 42 psi
(290 kPa). For additional information and details about
the DIC operation and displays see DIC Controls and
Displays on page 3-48 and DIC Warnings and Messages
on page 3-53.

An excellent source of information is your owner's manual. You can also download the owner's manual to have on your computer. This makes looking-up specific things quite easy.

Default Tire Pressure

You can use the DIC to check your tire pressure when filling at the station. Press and hold for ten seconds the ACC position of the ignition switch, then tire pressure can be displayed using the "Gauges" button on the "DIC Controls." Elsewhere you'll find recommendations to use a tire gauge to check fill pressure, but I find that this method works OK. It certainly beats using inaccurate/non-existent pressure gauges at service stations.

A pressure gauge for the glove box would be a nice Christmas present if anyone does not have one. I check tires cold and set at 30 psi. They come up to about 33-34 when hot. I like them all to be the same or no more than 1 psi off.
