So I picked up my C6 on Saturday morning. I finally decided that I want a vanity plate....problem is I don't know the process, do I just fill out the form on the state website and send in my money or is there another process. I was gonna get the regular plates for the state but changed my mind today...
Depends on the state you live in - you will have to go to your local DMV website or a local DMV office and find out. Be sure to get a cool vanity plate and not a stupid one...

Just fill out the application that's available online. List your first three choices and mail to Austin with $40.00. In about 3 weeks you'll get a letter stating when the plates will be available at your county tax office. After that its a matter of picking them up after you first call and make sure that they're in. Alternatively, the county tax office can forward them to the branch nearest you.
I don't know about your State but the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division web site has a search function so you can check to see if what you want is available (or if someone else already has it).
At least in Arizona they'll mail the plates to you.
Dp Blu C...not bad....just don't get one of those clever plates nobody can figure out what it means. I hate those one's where about a mile down the road you go....Oh...now I get it!
Forgot to mention that a clerk in Tax Office in Mesquite can check to see if what you want is available in terms of your three choices. As of a month ago it was still not possible to check online in Texas. Application form is clear in terms of letters, numbers and spaces.

Engineers and physicists and some mathematicians will understand mine immediately;
non-technical types will need much more than a mile to figure it out . . .

Or one that states the obvious.
Like "Vette" or something equally unimaginative when everyone knows it's a Corvette and there's big "Corvette" lettering pressed into the rear fascia right next to the plate.
The problem with Florida is that they have a picture, or symbol if you will, in the middle of the plate..... This effectively limits you to six places... (Three,pic,three).. and Maddog was already taken..... subsequently I wound up with something stupid....
By the way I wanted "fstphkr" ,was a no go in CA......
I'm thinking "Z51 MN6" for mine. In TN the normal plate has 3 character, a space, and 3 more characters. So in theory it should look like a normal plate to anyone except the vette guys. Which is what I'm going for.
Man, I like that one! I just sold my LMB coupe and would have jumped on it in my state.
My new 07 coupe now has REDAZ on his butt. When I ordered it in person the lady at DMV said she doubted it would be approved. I explained that I really wanted
REDAS but was afraid someone might think there was some obvious implication. (not) Actually, I was hoping the latter so I could pencil in my own extra "S".....
In Florida you have to be careful not to let the templates ruin the idea. To get 7 characters with no spaces is tough. (unless you want orange blossoms.)
From: North Strand, NMB, SC; Retired x 2 (US Army: 70-90 AD) (US Army: 91-16 DAC); yea, I'm old.
When I bought my C6, I did it only after:
1) Discussing it with my wife (insert mandatory "Why do you need a Corvette?" statement) (insert my reply: "Honey, I don't NEED a Corvette; I just want one!")
2) Pointing out every Vette on the road and especially the C6s for the next two months;
3) Wife saying to me one afternoon, "You know, if you are going to buy a Corvette, don't you think you should test drive one?"
4) Driving it home without her knowing it.
After all of this, she is the one who came up with my vanity plate: HAD2HAV
I live in Illinois - tried to get OJDIDIT but that was gone...had to settle for A CAPONE .... I always thought LEOBAIT was great but would have invited too much trouble
