I would check with a couple of local restoration shops. I had a few pieces done a couple of years back by a local place (www.eastcoastrestorations.com) and they still look great. I know they sent them out though.
Also take a look at the advertisers in Hemmings, you might be able to find one you can deal direct with.
Good Luck!
We have looked at doing this for some of our sample parts. The story seems to be that they do not like high (200C) temps. No direct experience with chrome, we do Nickel.
Welcome
Unless they actually do Electroplating /Chromium plating...etc now, its basically a paint.
Many advertise "We Chrome Plastic" and its usually the same process.
Have not seen any real good results back in person yet. We also tried it..not impressed.
Like GKrueger mentioned, heat is a problem with some other processes. Then there is the type of plastic to consider. Hard Plastic, ABS (like the center of your wheel cap) is no problem to do. Its the more flexible “engineered” plastics that throw everyone a curve ball. The amount of "PC" in the plastic is what they are looking for.
To overcome this you have to pay some pretty big $.
We too are involved with having some of our plastic products chromed. We believe we have found a good company to work with us, but our first run will not be for 2 months.
