I'm only buying a Vette to get more (and younger) women, so that stereotype is ok with me

Lets take this thread from the opposit extreme.... What do people say about Prius drivers? Or Volvo or BMW or Lexus or Cadilliac? I have never heard anybody say anything about Vette drivers. I see jealous looks but never a negative word about Vette drivers.

I think there is some truth to this. Ever notice Vettes are mostly driven by the "bad guys" in movies and TV shows?

Not that it stopped me... I got the car I always wanted.

A friend of mine joked to me that I "wasn't old, fat, or bald enough to own a Corvette".

It's all good though. The car kicks ***, and I didn't buy it for any kind of image or prestige thing.

Yesterday, I was at the gym & couldn't help notice a a beautiful young hottie working out that I hadn't seen there before. She finished her work out, and I watched her as she went to the Corvette parked right out in front & drove off.

So much for stereotypes.

I was at a party near Houston this summer with some old college friends. One of them rode with me to the golf course and could not say enough good things about my C6 coupe, he mentioned how much he would like to get a sports car. I told him how happy I was with the C6 and he basically explained to me that in Houston he would have to buy a M3 or a Porsche or he would be looked down on. Just would not consider a vette because it had a stigma. I then explained to him how amazingly stupid that sounded.

Give me American metal any damn day.

I had a guy come up to me the other day and make a comment about Vette owners being rude and pompous.
I didn't let it bother me.
I just told him "F*ck off and get a life! Loser."

as soon as i got my corvette one of my friends told me he would never buy a corvette because its a "D#ck extension". i just laughed at him! car is so awesome! everyone knows it, so they are either jealous or think they are too cool to own one (to those who can afford one)

I never understood that mentality. I don't even think the people that say things like that understand it either. I think it's just something they say when they're jealous. Or dense. Or both.
A friend's GF made a similar comment recently, and I responded by saying "Hey, there are plenty of guys out there with small penises driving all types of cars. Like Lexus', for example." (The friend drives a Lexus)

6 Years ago my wife would not even consider the thought of driving what she called a 'Come F#(% me Car". We were in Vegas that year and my brother, who has owned 13 Vettes, took me out to the speedway for an autocross. A friend of his had a 96 Silver Collectors edition there and I drove a this Vette on the Autocross course. I WAS HOOKED. I called the wife to come out and just watch.

To make a long story short, She road, drove and I set the hook good. We bought that Collectors Edtion! Since then I have owned 2 96 LT4,
Z51s and have just ordered a 2007 Z51 Coupe for a Museum pickup on our 25th wedding anniversary.

I have yet to run across any negative folks about Vettes! However, we do not waste our time with those who are negative about life. Can't wait to drive the new car across the States to California early December. Even the wife is excited and loves her Vette!!

Before I bought my vette, I asked a group of female co-workers (all in their early-mid 30's) what they would think if I bought a vette. They all knew that I was into fast cars, and had previously owned a Porsche and an M3. One said, "Oh, that's so 'Chester'." The other said, "That's for old, bald, fat guys who are trying too hard."

I bought the car anyway. F'em, I don't live to please other people, I drive it cause I like it.

I bought my first because they stopped making the Camaro which I always liked better then the c5's. Then the c6 came along and blew me away. Now on my 2nd c6 and the only time the thought of being ''profiled'' entered my head was when I was given a speeding ticket by a hick city cop using an antiquated timing device that according the officer showed me traveling 10 mph faster then I was going. I was going 43 in a 35 and was ticketed for 52.7 . At the DJ hearing the young officer would not budge and lower it to 5 over, same fine, and no points after the DJ gave him ample opportunity to do just that. He either didn't like me or didn't like Corvettes or more likely both. Pottsville , Pa. is not Corvette friendly.

Default all the young dudes.....diminish the image of the Corvette IMO

Of course a lot of us 50+ geezers remember when we were 20+ and driving our Muscle Cars...always wanted a Vette, but the old guys drove them in the '60s. We have met the enemy and it is we....
I notice that today many more new vettes seem to be owned by guys much younger than would typically own them in the sixties and even seventies. I chalk this up to changing cultural values that have resulted in younger people being unwilling to wait for any sort of gratification that they desire. They must have it NOW!

Add to this easy availability of large sums of money from home appreciation ( equity loans ) and willingness to take on huge payments and insurance we see guys in their early 20s driving new vettes.

I don't like this trend. Talk about profiles. I recall thirty-five years ago ( when I drove a 68 ss 396 Camaro and could not afford a vette ) it seemed that very few vettes had mods on them. Now nearly everyone it seems wants to bling out their new C6 with engine dress up, Z06 clone stuff, different wheels, even ridiculous stuff ( IMO ) like hood insulation airbrushed paintings.......

It all reflects the lower age of vette owners today IMO. So...the profile has been changing. Many people driving new vettes today would have been driving Camaros in prior decades. Hence, we see more street racing in vettes, more crashes, and lots of Z06s that don't make it out of sight of the dealership on pick up day due to the immature fools driving the cars. ( IMO )

The REAL profiling that goes on regarding vettes is by 'law' enforcement. They will follow you a ways behind, shadowing you, just waiting for you to speed etc. In fact, today, this is likely to pay off for them since with more younger vette owners the predictable behavior of younger men will prevail.

just my opinions. As more and more very young men own new vettes, and add more garish mods, and race on the street.....the class image of the Corvette will continue to diminish. The SL500 still has a class/maturity image due to cost. The C6 is , IMO, losing it each time an owner in his twenties gets behind the wheel.

so...flame me on the age thing all you want. BUT, I was young once AND I acted the part just like most young men. It's a fact of life: young men show off and act in dangerous manners compared to older. For me, I'd be just as happy with my '05 C6 if it had the body of a Taurus. I don't really care what people think of it or how much attention it attracts. I care about the interior, power, and handling and generally drive it on deserted roads so I can be alone and enjoy the driving experience.
