Exhaust work is pretty straight forward. If you have a good way to get the car in the air you should try to do it yourself.

and of all the things you can try on your car, this is the least likely to mess something up. the absolute worse case is you get stuck for knowledge/tools etc ... and you can still drive it w/o exhaust to shop & have them finish up.
