It is mostly for me. But ammo to use on her wouldn't hurt.

No matter how much you want one, make sure you are still trying to work the best deal you can.

Regarding how great this car is...the car kicks major ***, and I sometimes have to laugh out loud when driving it because it is so damn much fun.

LOL

Actually it isn't a bad deal.

They offered to order me one at GM supplier price. Most dealerships here won't even budge off of MSRP. To be honest I should have just gone straight from my stang to a C6 but I didn't I just pad 35 for my C5 6 weeks ago. They wanted to give me 28. I would have taken 30k but they wouldn't budge

I never even told my wife when I ordered my C6. I tried hiding it behind my Suburban but I'll be damned if the kids didn't find it.

fright88.....virtually everyone on this forum will tell you the C6 is great (which it truly is). You know your financial situation. If you cannot comfortably afford a C6, I'd say wait until you can. Marriage entails responsibilities....don't buy it and then find out you need a family car next year.

My Dad lecture is over.

Simply tell the salesman it's $2K more for the trade-in or you walk. If he doesn't blink....walk and keep looking. Things have a way of working out for the best. Good luck with the car and your fiance.

we have family cars. And I literally told them 30k or it was no deal. They told me they would keep an eye out for someone to buy your car then you can order blah blah blah

I know how you feel...just need that push and someone to tell you to go for it. Ask your fiance if she would like you to get it...she'll probably say it's up to you and it really is. If you feel your getting a good deal without the $2000 then go for it or call another dealership and tell them you got the deal at another dealership...can they do better. If you can do better they'll usually offer you some reason to visit them...if not maybe it really is a good deal.

5-7K loss in six week's? No-way!! Car's are already a bad "investment", don't do it. JMHO.

For Christ sake! Please don't start this "I gotta get permission" crap. You're not even married yet. If you want the car, buy it. You have to be the man of the house. Now is the time to start. Been married over thirty years. Never asked the wife permission to do squat! Just do it!
I don't mean to be irrational or mean spirted, just be the decission maker. Of course, listen to her input, but the final decission should always be the husband's. If you don't set this straight now, good chance you'll be miserable or divorced. You can't run a household by committee. It needs a decission maker. You be it!

Try selling the C5 privately.

To be honest it is my choice. In our relationship I do make the decisions. But the fact that we are 2 different people means sometimes we don't agree on my decisions.

The basic deal is I just can't justify the 7k loss.

I traded my torch red 2002 C5 2 months ago for a Black C6 2007
at first I was reluctant I loved my C5 . The look the feel the comp-liments but then I just did the change. WOW WOW WOW the C6 is tight and smoothe and more quiet with the windows up then my Mercedes. The C5 always rattled a bit and honeslty never handled well at high speeds over 75 But the C6 is a finely tuned machine made to be driven hard and fast. Go for it and don't look back.

I personally have never owned a C5, but considered it a lot when purchasing my first vette. They are both great cars and try toying with this idea in your mind a little. What would my C5 be like if I saved the $2k and actually put in another $4-5k for mods, total of $7k in goodies. It would probably be just as bitchin as the C6.

We all earn our money the hard way, the stealerships always make $2000 sound like it is no big deal. At an avg of $20/hr and an overall tax rate of 33-40%, that comes down to ~$12/hour. It would take this person 167 hours worth of work to make $2000 after tax.

Food for thought.

Dude, the chicks will throw themselves at you with this car! Do it! (I'm only 21, don't know if the older guys have the same experience?)

I don't think this will make his fiancee comfortable with the purchase. Call me crazy, I just don't think this is the right tactic.

I've driven a few C5s, and was thinking of buying one until I drove the C6. WOW, what a car.
